Shao Yi, born in Hangzhou, 1967, lives and works in Hangzhou
受佛教信仰的影响，邵一在创作中持续探索物体本身及其所蕴含的灵性之间的关系。通过将工业材料打造成人造图腾，邵一展现了他对人工与自然，宗教崇拜与工业社会，内在精神与外在物质连结关系的思考。
邵一的这一系列作品取材于传统的吉祥图案、现代工业模具，和民间的辟邪物，综合构建出一套独特的信仰符号体系。他将收集而来的现代工业木模重新拼装之后，重塑成极简但仿佛有象征含义的雕塑，彰显着平凡之物不同寻常的感召力。
图腾是为满足人精神寄托需求而被臆造出来的物化象征。而邵一的“图腾”则来自他对于人造物的敏感和因此产生的想象。通过创作的转换，这些带有“图腾性”的人造物被赋予了丰富的形式美感和材料质感，它们作为物的体量感也被进一步强化和加固。
Influenced by Buddhism, Shao Yi continues to explore the relationship between objects and their inherent spirituality. By rendering industrial materials into artificial totems, Shao Yi presents his meditations on the connection between the artificial and natural, religious worship and industrial society, inner spirit, and external mediums.
Shao Yi's series of works draw assimilates traditional auspicious patterns, modern industrial moulds, and folk talismans into a unique belief symbol system. He reassembles found modern industrial wood models as exaggerated and grotesque minimalist sculptures that expose the extraordinary appeal of ordinary things.
Totems are materialized symbols functioning as spirit carriers. Shao Yi's "totem" derives from his sensitivity to man-made objects and his imagination. Through his creative process, these "totemic" artefacts are endowed with a rich aesthetic sense of form and material texture that reinforces their materiality.
