This sculpture finds its origin in Romanian folk ornaments, configured by Mihai Olos into a six-module, interlocking structure called “the knot,” featured repeatedly in the artist's work. The knot allows for thousands of combinations in an infinite number of variations. To craft this abstract geometric structure, Olos combines this visual language with the experience of traditional wood carving. Throughout this structure, closely connected wooden blocks support each other, transforming ordinary media into an indestructible whole.
