Genieve Figgis, born in Dublin, Ireland, 1952, lives and works in Dublin

吉涅夫·菲吉斯将她的绘画称为艺术史和流行文化的翻录，她在绘画中充满鲜艳的色彩、丰富的纹理、随性的笔触以及一丝古怪。菲吉斯在写实与抽象之间、诡异与幽默之间找到了恰到好处的平衡点。她认为艺术是世界的记录，但是同时她也认为艺术是非常主观和私人的。每一件理应记录世界的艺术品必定会因每位艺术家的特定情况而改变。

In her so-called cover versions of art history and pop-cultural imageries, using bright colours, rich textures, loose brushstrokes, and a hint of the weird, Irish artist Genieve Figgis strikes a balance between figurative and abstraction, horror and humour. While she considers art to be the documentation of the world, she holds that it should certainly also be personal and subjective. Works of art, for her, are always inflected by the “specific agenda” of the artist.
