这是艺术家爱德华·鲁沙题为《50年后的屋顶景观》的六张黑白照片之一，每张照片都拍摄了从高处俯览洛杉矶郊区街道的景色。正如标题所示，这些照片与艺术家在1960 年代初期制作的名为《屋顶景观》的系列作品有关，彼时鲁沙刚于毕业后进入西好莱坞一间广告公司担任版面设计员，在午休常去的屋顶拍摄了一系列风景。尽管摄影元素相较于艺术家其它更为人知的创作形式来说并不突出，但作为对瞬间的捕捉和再评估的素材，摄影对于其创作美学与主题来说产生了潜移默化的影响。2012年鲁沙重返50年前所处的屋顶，在相同的位置捕捉到了相同的视图，也揭示了经历半个世纪后建筑物、车辆与城市面貌的微妙变化。与此同时，作者本人也不再是曾经的新人设计师，在重游家乡旧地的同时，他也在不断重审自己的创作主题，将时间引入“重复”的假象，推进新创作的衍生。

This is one of six black and white photographs entitled Roof Top View 50 Years Later by Edward Ruscha. Each one is a view of the suburban streets of Los Angeles seen from a high vantage point. As the title reveals, this piece is related to Ruscha’s previous series in the early 1960s entitled Roof Top Views. At that time, the artist just joined a West Hollywood advertising agency as a layout artist after graduation and shot a series of landscapes on the roof where he frequented his lunch break. While being less known than other forms used by Ruscha, the photographic practices have influenced progressively his aesthetics and themes as a vehicle to capture and reanalyse the ephemeral moment. In 2012, he returned to the same roof and took photos with exactly the same composition and crop, revealing the subtle changes of the buildings, vehicles, and the city half a century later. Meanwhile, Ruscha himself was no longer a junior layout artist. While revisiting his hometown, he constantly re-examed the themes of his works, and interfered with the illusion of "repetition" by adding the temporal dimension to intrigue the evolution of new creations.
