Alexandria Smith, born in New York, United States, 1981, lives and works in London, United Kingdom.

亚历山大·史密斯以她扁平的画面和镜面对称的人和物而被大家所熟知，她试着用绘画和印刷来描绘事物的二元性以及身份的不确定性。在《探索者》中，一对对称的、匿名者的手在黑暗中指向光源。史密斯认为她的艺术作品是她作为一名黑人艺术家的记忆的产物，她以艺术作为她探索文化杂糅、二元论、人性的复杂性的前进工具。

Known for her flatly painted images, marked by symmetrical and mirrored figures’ heads or other semi-abstract shapes, Alexandria Smith employs painting and printmaking to depict the state of duality and to question the stability of identity. In The Seekers, mirrored hands of an anonymous black person point to a lightbulb in the darkness. The artist considers her works a product of her memory, and her role as a black women artist, and she uses her art as a way of exploring profound questions of cultural hybridity, duality, the divided self, and the complex realities of humanity.
