保罗·伊卡洛的创作语言跟随着美国新前卫运动的兴起，在六七十年代往返于意大利和美国期间而形成。从参加贫穷艺术最早期的展览开始，他的作品经历了意大利和国际范围内重要的艺术运动，并逐渐建立了属于自己的标志性风格，也让他成为活跃在国际舞台上的最重要的意大利艺术家之一。伊卡洛的雕塑让人想起“轻”的概念，这种轻立足于精神和审美维度，而非重量的表达，好像他的作品即将向上翱翔，同时又保持锚定在地球上一样。轻盈也可以意味着“飞行的可能”，在空中盘旋的能力可以具有“自由”的意义，这也体现于他对雕塑作品与空间的关系的释放：雕塑不是占据空间，而是本身成为一个地方，成为空间的起源。

Paolo Icaro’s language was formed between the sixties and seventies between Italy and the United States in the wake of the experience of the American neo-avant-garde. His work has gone through crucial movements for Italian and international art, starting with Arte Povera - in whose first exhibitions he took part. Later, Icaro built an autonomous and original identity, making him one of the most important Italian artists active on the international scene. The sculptures of Icaro remind of the concept of "lightness", which is a mental and aesthetic dimension, instead of weight, as if the works tend to soar upwards while remaining anchored to the earth. Lightness could also mean "possibility of flight", the ability to hover in the air can take on the meaning of "freedom", it is incarnated by his release of the relationship between sculpture works and space, where the sculpture, instead of occupying space, becomes the place, the origin of that space.
