从茂名南路59号出发 编写一篇安利洋行大班小安诺德兄弟上海滩行迹录
前天我们发布了《安利洋行大班小安诺德兄弟楼曾被华懋公寓压顶 被沙逊兼并不是一件难为情的事情》，今天安理国际律师事务所（Allen & Overy）公号推送给我们一篇关于2019年上半年“并购透视”报告，该报告有这样一段话说得比较到位：地缘政治经济因素无疑对投资者的信心造成了一定程度的影响，但有充分的证据显示，企业依然时刻准备在合适的时机进行具有战略意义的交易。什么时候买卖？什么价格买卖？这都需要经过精心思考，买卖房子也讲究时间最优点和物业性价比，以后会专门写一篇如何买卖老洋房的文章。
小安诺德兄弟安利洋行旗下最值钱的产业大概是如下的瑞镕机器造船厂，New Engineering & Shipbuilding Works, Ltd.当年大概是厂庆吧出了一本精美摄影集，看到孔夫子旧书网上有几幅照片修了一幅图，谢谢孔夫子，一个老上海影像图文资料来源地。那时候小安诺德涉足的船厂船坞业也算是先进制造业大项目。
插播一段上海船厂史：In 1900 the latter concern was merged with Messrs, Farnham & Co. Ltd.and later on with Messrs, Boyd & Co. Ltd. the name of the new firm being Messrs, Farnham, Boyd & Co. Ltd. In 1903 left the latter firm and joined the staff of the New Engineering & Shipbuilding Works Ltd. passing on to the position of Assistant Manager in 1906 and to his present position of Managing Director in 1915.看这些个外国名字和中国名称真是不搭界的，但外国字可以找到不少原始资料，一个叫Archie William Brankston的专业领军人物被1924年中国诸业领袖人物小史收录，他从老耶松做起，老耶松和祥生合并后成立新耶松，最后做到瑞镕总经理，1936年小安诺德兄弟选择和耶松合并，一个船厂船坞巨无霸在上海诞生，这也是上海船厂的前史，现在陆家嘴地区老厂房被改造为船厂1862，1862年祥生船厂创始年。
我们找到了小安诺德兄弟在1924年和1935年中国名人录的资料及肖像照，H. E.安诺德（Harry Edward Arnhold，1879年1月16日生）和 C.H.安诺德（Charles Herbert Arnhold，1881年9月19日生），我们为写作方便称呼为亨利哥哥和查尔斯弟弟，查尔斯弟弟和沙逊爵士同龄。前天我们还介绍了给沙逊设计房子的建筑师威尔逊也是1881年出生，1920年代至1930年代他们年富力强真是大显身手好时光。
如下是我们根据几份历史资料综合而成安利洋行大班小安诺德兄弟的行迹录。今天这一图文专题对两兄弟早年上海史迹进行了一次较为全面的回顾，他们对上海实体经济有重大贡献，对上海城建和公用事业的投资有力、对金融保险业也有参与建设；上海应该记得他们。

Arnhold, Charles Herbert Born in London on September 19th, 1881. Educated at University College, London, and Brasenose College, Oxford. Came to China in December, 1906. Degrees M.A.(Oxon) and F.R.S.A. After leaving Oxford entered the London Office of Messrs. Arnhold, Karberg & Co., which firm was established in China by his father in 1866.This firm has been succeeded by Messrs. Arnhold & Co. Ltd., of which Mr. Arnhold is a Governing Director. Served on the Committee of the British Chamber of Commerce in 1922 and he is also on the board of directors of the following local Companies: Oriental Cotton Spinning and Weaving Co. 对于老爸公司（Arnhold, Karberg & Co.,中文译名：瑞记洋行），1924年的小史也做了说明，需要指出的是其总公司那时已在伦敦，上海为其支行（分公司）。1906年查尔斯来华打理在华业务并在1908年娶Winifred Mary Cooper为妻，由此在安利洋行可以看到一位勤快的舅子John Sission St. George Cooper ，他还一度住在迈而西爱路大宅内，1927年亨利哥哥从霞飞路搬来此地与弟弟过日子，舅子才搬走。1922年查尔斯弟弟就住在迈而西爱路大宅，那时此条位于东钱家塘的南北纵向道路刚辟通三年。关于此地，我们还做过《茂名南路（延安中路-长乐路）头头子：在早期万国汽车3S店集中街区挂一块上海优秀历史建筑铭牌很难吗？》专题报道（链接点进去看看）。
1935年中国名人录对查尔斯弟弟介绍蛮详细，我们来罗列一些他担任董事以及经理的公司名称，一部精编版的近代上海工商、金融、保险、城建、公用事业史。

给了我们两个英国俱乐部的名字，经过查证还都健康地生存着，其中Vincents' Club （Oxford）已经155年了，在其官方网站上自豪地写道：As we prepare to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the foundation of the Club in 1863, Vincent’s remains a vital part of the sporting and social scene of Oxford University life.当我们准备庆祝文森特俱乐部成立150周年之际，我们的俱乐部仍然是牛津大学体育和社交生活的重要组成部分。而在查阅 Leander Club （England）资料时，也是一行十分傲骄的文句扑面而来：Leander Club is recognised the world over for its extraordinary achievements, having won more Olympic and World championship gold medals than any other club, and home to rowing heroes and to the champions of tomorrow.Leander’s members enjoy a very socially active club that encourages good fellowship, celebrates success and values its heritage, stretching back to its formation in 1818.源自1818年的老牌运动俱乐部，那一行红字将俱乐部最高宗旨写得清清楚楚：互尊、互爱、互敬、互助。
查尔斯弟弟受教育程度比较高，他是牛津大学文科硕士。到上海以后也是一步一个脚印建立起新的安利洋行商业集团（他爹以前那个叫瑞记洋行，他跟着亨利哥哥在上海滩打拼），在如下公司他担任了领导职务。

以上为1927年中国名人录对亨利哥哥介绍，其实在1922年、1924年和1925年都有介绍，但都没有出现兄弟楼地址信息。从其服务过的单位看（与弟弟相同单位未列举，列举弟弟不涉及的公司名称），安利洋行业务主要靠他：

Member of a family whose name for many years has been closely identified with important commercial and financial undertakings in China, Mr. Arnhold himself for thirty-seven years has been an active factor in the management of the extensive Arnhold interests, now centered in Arnhold & Co., Ltd., of which he is a Governing Director.
老爹的事业在亨利哥哥的手里沿续了下去，37年来他呕心沥血扑在了家族企业里，富二代不容易。其实写这个简历的时候，安利洋行已经和之前的那个安利洋行大不同了。亨利哥哥1899年到上海，被老爹派来开拓中国市场，第一步扎在了汉口，那一年亨利哥哥才20岁，弟弟在读大学，老大就义不容辞地上班了。汉口呆了两年再上海两年再伦敦两年，这不是轮训管培生的节奏吗？有了国际贸易经验和对三地前瞻性判断，亨利哥哥1907年将总部移到了上海，那个时候他的弟弟从牛津大学毕业也来到了他的身边，兄弟齐心、其利断金，跟着这句老古话，还有八个字：同心之言，其臭如兰。臭是通假字，通“嗅”。也许是法租界花朵的芬芳，两兄弟可能有点飘飘然，隔壁马路亚尔培（如今陕西南路）的开发商沙逊对自己的老乡的那块风水宝地有了念想·····
He was educated in England, at University College School, London, and came out to Shanghai in November, 1899. In the interests of his firm he was stationed at Hankow, 1901-03, Shanghai, 1903-05, London, 1905-07, and since 1907 has made his headquarters in Shanghai.
Despite the heavy demands of his private affairs, Mr. Arnhold has taken a deep interest in civic affairs relating to the upbuilding and development of Shanghai. 当年的人物小传就如此颂扬，评价相当高，有益于社会的事情的人一定有着高尚品格，亨利哥哥曾担任上海工部局的董事并被推选为总董。无论自己家族生意多么忙碌，亨利哥哥还是对社会公益事业抱有兴趣并愿意投身其中。
He has served several terms on the Shanghai Municipal Council, governing body of the International Settlement, and was Chairman of the Council in 1929 and 1934-35. He served a term as Chairman of the British Chamber of Commerce in 1923.
在近代上海租界史专家吴志伟写的一篇考据论文里，我们发现了一个亨利哥哥的小故事（选自《“工部局董事合影”照片的年代略考》）。
1928 年 4月 19 日（亨利哥哥）任工部局董事，1929 年 4月 18日被选为总董。1930 年 3月 5 日，因为在纳税人大会上没有被选为下届董事，他认为“对他说来，唯一正确的办法是辞去工部局董事之职。在纳税人年会上是由总董概括地阐述工部局下年度的方针的。既然他没有再当选为董事，他不宜在这种情况下再从事这项工作。尽管他不愿使董事会为难，并且愿意听从董事会的意见， 但是他面临的唯一途径是提出辞职。”

亨利哥哥和Wheelock & Co., Ltd.,还有关系呢，会德丰洋行还存世，大公司，静安寺那里的会德丰广场是TA家的。
从德商瑞记洋行（Arnhold Karberg & Co.,）到英商安利洋行（Arnhold Bros. & Co.,Ltd），两代人的故事；从与老沙逊洋行齐名到最后被新沙逊洋行兼并，历史不仅是喜剧的也是悲剧的，不管悲喜都是如梦一般的人生大剧。围绕着安诺德兄弟身边的，John Sission St. George Cooper ，我们看到了姻亲关系，他曾在上海担任了重要的总工程师职务为安利洋行实业尽心尽力；我们还看到了同行关系，马勒别墅主人埃力克·马勒（Eric Moller）的兄弟 John A.,Moller，他曾在瑞鎔机器机造船厂工作过·····我们在1919年的上海总商会同仁录发现了吴登瀛的名片，他后来担任了安利洋行华总经理，他的家族故事以后慢慢说····
1941年太平洋战争起，小安诺德兄弟已不在上海名人录露脸了，想想那一年，亨利哥哥和查尔斯弟弟都是60岁花甲老人了，他们1949年还住在茂名南路吗？
上海解放后，新沙逊洋行因积欠巨额债务于1958 年10 月以产抵债，其在中国内地的全部财产转让给中华企业公司。1959年小安诺德兄弟楼因建造锦江小礼堂而拆除。上图为今天锦江饭店内一棵老树，这个大院落大草坪里外还有兄弟楼的遗存吗？
