Cabo Verde is an island country in the Atlantic Ocean, it is located about 500kms from the west coast of Africa. Its capital city is Praia, and its official language is Portuguese, Cabo Verdean Creole is also widely spoken.

佛得角位于大西洋，是一个岛国，离西非海岸大约500公里。佛得角的首都是普拉亚，官方语言是葡萄牙语，佛得角克里奥尔语也是常使用的语言。

National Anthem 国歌

The national anthem of Cabo Verde is Cântico da Liberdade (Song of Freedom in English).

佛得角的国歌是《自由之歌》。

National Flag 国旗

Cabo Verde’s flag is made up of five horizontal stripes with the colors blue, white, red, white, and blue from top to bottom, and ten equally-spaced yellow stars forming a circle. Blue symbolizes the sea and the blue sky, while the ten yellow stars represent the ten main islands of Cabo Verde, white and red colors stands for national progress, peace and hard work.

佛得角国旗由五条横条纹组成，从上到下依次为蓝、白、红、白、蓝，还有十颗等距的黄色星组成一个圆圈。蓝色代表海和天空，十颗黄星代表佛得角的十个主要岛屿，白色和红色代表民族的努力、发展、与和平。

The official currency used in Cabo Verde is Cabo Verdean Escudo.

Cabo-Verde is comprised of 10 islands (Santo Antão, São Vicente, São Nicolau, Santa Luzia, Sal, Boavista, Maio, Santiago, Fogo and Brava).

Politics and Economy 经济和政治:

Cabo Verde is a stable, multi-party parliamentary democracy. Although poor in natural resources, it has achieved political and economic stability. Its main source of income comes from tourism, one of the main engines of growth. Also, the money from the diaspora brings in the much-needed foreign currency.  

佛得角是一个稳定的多党议会民主国家。虽然自然资源贫乏，但政治经济稳定。它的主要收入来源于旅游业，旅游业是经济增长的主要引擎之一。此外，移民社群也带来的外汇。

The majority of roads in Cabo-Verde are paved, and there are no railways. Almost all the inhabited islands have airports. There is international air service to destinations such as Lisbon, Boston, Rome, Paris, Brazil, and Western Africa. Within the islands, regular ferries and planes provide local service. Telephone service in Cabo-Verde is generally good, and cellular telephones use is expanding.

佛得角大部分的路是铺面道路，但没有铁路。有人民居住的岛屿几乎都有机场。有国际航班到世界各地，如里斯本、波士顿、罗马、巴黎，巴西和西非。飞机和渡船是岛与岛之间的主要交通工具。佛得角的通信服务一般都很好，移动电话的使用也在扩大。

Grogue, also known as grogu or grogo, is a Cape Verdean alcoholic beverage made from sugarcane.

Grogue is the basis for a Cape Verdean cocktail known as ponche, which also includes lime and molasses.

Cabo Verde is world-renowned for the beautiful beaches, it is not surprising that water sports are one of the strengths of this small country. The football and basketball teams have been playing at continental level, but it's also in gymnastics and boxing that they do best.

Nature 自然

On most of the larger islands, elevations are great enough to generate precipitation on the windward slopes; grasses and some pine plantations are found in these relatively moist locations. The scarcity of water limits the number of land turtles in the archipelago, but two species of sea turtles lay their eggs on the sandy shores of the uninhabited islets.

There are more than 100 known species of birds, and mammals of Cabo Verde include the feral goats found on Fogo. Monkeys, introduced from the African continent, are also present on the islands. The long-eared bat is the only indigenous mammal.
