On 18th this month, RwandAir's airplane took more than 200 passengers from Kigali International Airport at around 1 am local time, arriving at Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport on the same day evening.

The plane made a stop in Mumbai, India, before taking off to Guangzhou to complete its route. RwandAir CEO  Yvonne Marcolo and an official from Rwanda's Ministry of Infrastructure were among the passengers.

RwandAir said that the flight time of the Kigali-Guangzhou flight is 14 hours and 50 minutes, which is the longest flight time for RwandAir. The flight is carried by the Airbus A330 passenger plane, three shifts a week on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.

Rwandan Airlines CEO Yvonne Marcolo was interviewed by the media at Kigali International Airport before taking the flight to Guangzhou.

Marcolo said in a statement earlier this month that as trade volume between African countries and China continue to increase, business people have a high demand for travel between Africa and Guangzhou. The new route will not only open up new business opportunities for RwandAir but also increase passenger traffic and freight volume of RwandAir.

Guangzhou is the second destination in Asia after the opening of the route to Mumbai in 2017. At present, Rwanda Airlines has a total of 28 destinations in the world, covering Asia, Africa, and Europe.
