Automatic Visa Extension is Limited to One Time Only

During the epidemic prevention and control, China introduced a policy of offering 2 months automatic visa extension for individuals whose visa will expire during this period. But what will happen to those whose after automatic extension, their visa expires again? Well, different cities have implemented different measures, but the majority of the cities do not offer an automatic visa extension more than once for one individual.

According to reports from a seminar held on May 22 —"Special Q&A Session for Shenzhen Entry Policy"— if a visa expires during the epidemic prevention and control period, it will be automatically extended for 60 days. If it is about to expire again, the holder should visit the Exit-Entry Administration of Shenzhen Public Security in advance to apply for a stay permit. For those who have other questions, they can call the city's foreign language hotline for inquiries: 0755-1258088.
Numerous cities around China have confirmed that the automatic extension can only be carried out once. In addition, those who are currently abroad and their residence permit have expired, they will need to apply for a Z, L, M, F, Q, or S visa to enter the country, and submit for work permit extensions before applying for residence permit extension when they arrive in China.
