In early 2012, Mr. Zhang had a dispute with a colleague at work and developed a habit of wanting more in order to prove his colleagues wrong. But disappointments after disappointments followed, at one time he started reading about western politics and electoral systems on the internet. Consequently, he came up with a bold idea i.e. forming his own political party and build his own nation.

In 2018, he thought that he is not young anymore and it was about time to put his ideas into practice. On april that year, he travelled abroad to better plan his subversion activity.

In the hotel where he settled, Zhang drafted his so-called "program for the establishment of the people's Republic of China" and "the program for building the party". Later, he held a ceremony in the hotel room to announce the establishment of the "Democratic Republican Party of China" and "the Democratic Federal Republic of China". He also swore himself to be the "President" and issued the "Presidential order no.1".

He hired a man named Xu to help him take pictures and videos of the ceremony, which he will then forward to more than 10 Wechat groups. He announced that he has officially become the president, but not so soon, he realized that his actions might land him in jail if he go back to China. So he applied for political asylum in the country in which he was denied twice.

His life was almost over for now, he can't go back home for fear of getting arrested, and he can't stay in the country, but as they say, when one door closes, the other opens. Mr. Zhang was contacted by some people who told him they will help with realizing his dreams, but he need to go back to China and regularly provide them with some information.

Eversince he started his party and country, not even a single soul took him serious, so when these strangers contacted him and showed support for his idea, he was thrilled. He accepted their conditions and went back to China, everything was smooth and he was not arrested, in fact, when he went back to his old job, not even one person asked him or appeared to know about his "presidency." He rented an office in downtown Zhengzhou to serve as the "party headquarters.".

Zhang also produced a large number of propaganda manuscripts and materials such as "China's future", and then, in accordance with his own "Party member development" plan, successively recruited two "party members." He registered several shell companies to raise funds from his "supporters" from abroad under the cover of business cooperation, the funds were used to attract and buy new members.

Just as his plan was getting well, in april 2019, he was about to send someone abroad for a regular meeting with his "supporters" when he was arrested by state security. In August this year, the Zhengzhou intermediate people's court of Henan Province sentenced Mr. Zhang to 13 years imprisonment for collusion with foreign spy agencies and forming illegal "party association."

It turns out that the people who said they want to help him, were a spy organization, they recruit people online and requires sending them some sensitive information, such as images of military bases, military trucks and jets, etc.

A national security official warned that "China's anti-spy rule stipulates that as long as the suspect has accepted the task of the overseas spy organization, then it is deemed that they have already constituted a spying offence, and it is not determined by the result of completing the task to the other party.
