Have you ever been walking on the sidewalk of a building then trash fell down from the sky right beside you? Or even worse, on you?
Yeah, I have had those moments, but worry no more because a court in Baohe District, Hefei city, Anhui province, just sentenced a woman who threw ice blocks down from her building, not just one time, but three times.
She was reported by pedestrians who saw her throwing ice blocks from her 23rd floor apartment. After a thorough investigation and going through a trial, she was given a six months sentence with a one year probation, as well as a 5,000 RMB fine.
This is the second time that someone has been convicted on the crime of throwing objects from a high altitude since the law came into effect on March 1 this year.
The latest amendment of the criminal law came into effect on the first of March this year. And among others, throwing objects from a high-rise building or high altitude was pronounced a criminal offense.
The first person to be convicted of this offense on the same day it came into effect is Mr. Xu from Liyang, Changzhou, Jiangsu Province. He was sentenced to six months in jail and fined 2,000 RMB.
