Pakistan’s second Formula Electric Sports Car has been developed by the students of the NED University of Engineering and Technology at a cost of Rs. 3.5 million.
According to the details, the car can reach a maximum speed of 120km/h while its average speed is around 60 to 70km/h.
One of the students revealed that after NUST developed the first formula electric sports car, it was the dream of his seniors at the engineering department to develop the second car.
They were able to fulfill the dream of their seniors despite facing numerous challenges pertaining to battery backup and motors.
The students were compelled to virtually attend the Formula SAE 2020 competition held in Australia amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.
They urged the government to support such projects to encourage students.
“In Pakistan, there is so much talent, but one is not quite sure that his or her idea will get the support or not,” one of the students said.
The first purpose-built electric Formula One car was built by their seniors in 2016 and was sponsored by K-Electric. It went on to participate in an international competition in Italy the same year July.
