When a hashtag topic about a foreigner on Weibo gets more than 120 million views, igniting hundreds of thousands of discussions on the platform, it usually means bad news!
120 Million Views of this topic on Weibo
This is because societies around the world have a quick declaration and reaction about bad news, while good news takes much longer to travel.
This phenomenon has given rise to the fact that no news would mean that it is good news and hence the old adage "No news is good news."
But this went all different for a German man in Shanghai who decided to treat health workers at a community health center with some soft drinks after he got vaccinated.
His action was noticed by a food delivery man who shared the story using a short video clip online after seeing the remark left by the client saying:
"My name is Frank, I am from Germany, I'm so grateful that I got a Covid-19 vaccine in China, please send this order to medical staff at the community health center, Thanks a / (sic)"
After seeing the remark, the delivery man was so moved that he used his own spare change to buy some more soft drinks for healthcare staff at the center, he said on the video that he was inspired by Frank to do so to show his appreciation for their work.
Ever since the video was uploaded online, it went viral and inspired a string of positivity towards foreigners and many netizens have shared their positive encounters with other foreigners in and outside of China.
