Oryan Heideman from South Africa, an English teacher at EF, gets vaccinated at the Medical Technology Building of Shenzhen Luohu People’s Hospital yesterday. He was among a group of 50 expats working in Luohu District to be administered COVID-19 vaccines yesterday.
Some 50 expats working in Luohu District were administered a COVID-19 vaccine on 6th afternoon in the Medical Technology Building of Shenzhen Luohu People’s Hospital, organized by Luohu District’s foreign affairs bureau.
Many companies employing foreigners in Luohu inquired with the bureau about vaccines since it has been made available to foreigners in the city in April.
After learning about the companies’ inquiries, bureau officials contacted Shenzhen Luohu People’s Hospital, the only vaccination site designated for foreign nationals and Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan compatriots in the district, and arranged nine group vaccinations for over 200 expat employees from companies such as Tomy (Shenzhen), KASIKORNBANK, PwC and EF, as of yesterday.
Joe Boyle from the U.K. was resting in an observation room after he completed his second vaccine dose during a reporter’s visit to the hospital. “The service is fantastic here,” Boyle said.
Hiroshi Kojima, a senior manager at Japanese toy company Tomy Shenzhen, told Shenzhen Daily, “I was hesitant to get the vaccine at the very beginning, to be honest.
But many of my colleagues got their shots and showed nothing uncomfortable and no abnormalities. So, I decided to be inoculated. Services at the site are good.”
At present, the COVID-19 inoculation is available at Shenzhen Luohu People’s Hospital each Tuesday and Thursday afternoon. The hospital accepts both personal and group appointments for foreigners’ vaccinations via the WeChat account of jkshenzhen (健康深圳).
