Cross-Province Residence Permit in Yangtze Demonstration Zone

How about applying for a residence permit in one city and enjoy a wide range of services including health care, children's education, financial services, customs clearance facilities and house-purchasing policies in other cities as well?
Well, this has already been made possible in Yangtze River Delta Ecology and Greenery Integration Demonstration Zone. The scope of a residence permit in this area covers the whole city of Shanghai, as well as Wujiang District in Suzhou City and Jiashan County in Jiaxing City, Zhejiang Province.
The Qingpu District Human Resources and Social Security Bureau has already issued three such residence permits for overseas talents so far.
Moreover, the authority has issued a total of 27 such residence permits for overseas talents since last September.
Shanghai’s first residence permit for overseas talent in the Yangtze River Delta Ecology and Greenery Integration Demonstration Zone was issued in the suburban district on February 26.
The residence permit was given to a Malaysian who is general manager of Walter Electronic in Suzhou, Jiangsu Province, according to Qingpu District authorities.
Company officials said the permit enables him to receive various preferential services for overseas talent, and provides more convenience and a sense of belonging in the demonstration zone.
Shanghai’s overseas talent policies will help firms attract more foreign professionals to work in the zone, creating a sound business environment, a Walter Electronic official said.
Residence permits will be issued to foreigners who do not work in Shanghai but in other areas of the demonstration zone. The zone comprises Shanghai’s Qingpu District, Jiashan County in Zhejiang Province and Wujiang District in Jiangsu Province.
Permit holders are entitled to various preferential policies for health care, children’s education, financial services and housing.
Who can Apply?
According to the Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs Bureau in three places, including Shanghai, Zhejiang and Jiangsu, foreign nationals who meet any of the following requirements are eligible to apply.
-Foreign nationals in the domestic talent introduction program in China;
-Foreign personnel who meets the internationally recognized standards for professional achievements;
-Foreign talents, innovative and entrepreneurial talents and outstanding young talents who meet the demand of market-oriented and jobs that are highly in demand, and foreigners with points above 85.
Foreigners who fail to meet the standards in their first application can apply again if they meet the conditions in their subsequent employment.
