Ever since the United States State Department announced that students holding F Visa may return to the country, embassies and consulates in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenyang, etc have seen a surge in numbers of student visa applications.
In May alone, the number of student visas issued by US embassies and consulates in China was 22,611, that is 2,195 more compared to the same month in 2019.
In June, 33,896 student visas to the US were issued, that is 11,000 more than May, a month to month increase of nearly 50%.
As of this month, data show that the number has surpassed 85,000, all these visas granted within just three months.
Chinese students' interest in studying in the United States was reported as "declined" significantly last year, with many choosing other destinations such as the UK.
But this year's data shows a complete U-turn, even with increased restrictions and rigorous review that Chinese students need to go through to get the United States student visa.
According to various school's official website, about 240 American universities have made mandatory vaccination regulations for the fall semester.
Among them, some universities recognize Chinese vaccines approved by the World Health Organization (WHO).
For those that do not recognize Chinese vaccines, they will generally give corresponding solutions, such as providing vaccination services or return to school isolation and testing measures.
In the end, the US is still a favorite destination for Chinese international students.
Whether they look at this from the perspective of personal development or hoping to contribute to their motherland, studying abroad is still a better choice for them~
Contributions will be appreciated!
