Since the COVID spread in the world, the students who went back to their home countries for spending the winter vacations, couldn’t return to their universities, school, and colleges. COVID actually damaged the business, education and affected almost every field.
The education system is damaged a lot. It’s more than 1 year and 8 months that educational institutes are closing and opening again and again gradually. International students from all over the world were disturbed with respect to their studies. The students who secured scholarships for higher studies were effected. Because most of the scholarship holders are doing either MS. or Ph.D., they terminated their jobs for their study. But after the COVID came, scholarships of international students (all over the world) were suspended. That’s resulted in enhancement of their mental stress and problems. Institutes offered the students to continue their studies online. It was actually the first time in the world that an online system for education was being used on large scale in all institutes. But this online system is not suitable for all students because the internet facility in all countries isn’t the same. And a lot of students belong to the remote areas of the country so the actual problem was for them. So from this discussion we can extract 2 major problems of international students. A: ScholarshipB: Online Education Let’s discuss it one by one A: Scholarship Most of the countries suspended the scholarship of those students who were living in their home countries. Here there are 2 points of views 1: Students’ views2: Views of institutes offering scholarship
1. Student’s viewScholarship holder Students say that to meet the study expenditures they need money and their scholarship was the only source for them to continue their studies. They more added that no doubt they are stuck in home countries but to continue their study through an online system isn’t that much easy. For that, they need strong internet and strong internet costs high price. So Institutes shouldn’t suspend their scholarship. 2. View of Institutes offering scholarshipInstitutes say that their scholarship means fee waiver and living allowance. As students are not living in the hosting country (country of institutes) so their living allowance is suspended only. But if they are taking online classes then they are also enjoying fee waivers. B: Online Education Online education system doesn’t provide quality of education: students said. And there is also a time difference among different countries. Sometimes students need to wake up at 2 am to attend the lectures. And some students said that they live in remote areas and their internet isn’t strong so they need to move cities and there they have to find a residence with strong internet which costs high amount. And as institutes suspended their scholarship they don’t have any source of income in this COVID because most of the time their country applies the lock down situation so that they can’t find a good job to continue their study. But students are confident and determined that this COVID situation will not be long lasting any more and it will be changed soon. They are trying hard in this critical and tough situation. Students more added that in spite of these problems they will surely complete their degrees with little more effort. Students also have a strong hope that soon they will move back to their institutes.
