On the evening of October 28, one passenger reported that he was forced to give up his seat to a foreigner by the metro security staff when taking Shenzhen Metro Line 11.

Another passenger who was at the scene said he was also threatened by the metro security staff after calling him out.

Some passengers recorded the encounter and the video was posted on short video platforms, attracting a lot of attention from netizens.

On the video that went viral on Douyin, a man wearing security uniforms was seen pointing fingers at a passenger, saying "Go and tell the comrades at the security center to talk to me, I don't want to talk to you, why do you think I worship foreigners? Get off, gett off..."

On October 29, Mr. Chen, who published the video, told news reporters that at about 10 p.m. on the 28th, he took Shenzhen Metro Line 11 heading home after work. At the time, he was already very tired, adding that he also had a medical operation recently. He got a seat and sat down, but a few stops later, a foreign man got on the same carriage as his.

At this time, there was no empty seats in the carriage. A metro staff suddenly came up to him and asked him to give up his seat to the foreigner. Mr. Chen refused his request. A few seconds later, the staff returned again and asked him to give up his seat to the foreign man, saying that in line with the traditional Chinese hospitality and etiquette, he should give up his seat to foreigners.

Seeing this, the foreign man gestured that he did not want to be offered the seat, but the metro staff still insisted that Mr. Chen should give up his seat to the foreign man.

Another male passenger at the scene was disgusted with the behavior of the staff and questioned him why he wanted Mr. Chen to give up his seat to foreigners and accussed him of foreign worshipping.

The said metro staff became overly excited and criticized the passenger loudly, telling him to get off the metro and go to talk to the security staff.

This made Mr. Chen angry: "I just recently got an operation, today I have worked overtime and I was very tired. I found a seat rightly. What right does the metro staff have to ask me to give up my seat to foreigners? Why should the security officer accuse the male passenger and let him get off the metro?"

Chen added that the security officer also took out his mobile phone and asked the male passenger to take off his mask and took his photos, saying he wanted to ruin his reputation.

He later called the police and cooperated with them to give his account on the incident on the afternoon of the 29th.

Apology notice forwarded by Shenzhen Metro.

At noon on the 29th, the security company that employed the metro staff publicly issued an apology, and Shenzhen metro also forwarded the apology on Weibo.
