Delivery Person Dies While Saving a Woman from Drowning

An 85 year old woman accidentally fell into the water in Jiaotong village, Jingzhou City, Hubei Province when a passing delivery person jumped into the river to rescue her. The 32 years old delivery man and the woman both died during an attempt to rescue her from drowning.
He is survived by his wife, a 6 years old daughter and parents who are at their old age.
Zhao Xiaohua, deputy secretary of the Party committee of Xingou Town, told BAFLA reporters that at about 2:30 p.m. that day, an old woman surnamed Zhang, was fetching water at the Jianxin River in the village. Due to her old age, she accidentally slipped into the river and started struggling desperately in the water while shouting for help.
Wang Jing, a delivery person who was passing by jumped into the river trying to rescue her without hesitation. Even though the woman was near the riverbank, but due to the dredging operation carried out on the river, water depth at the embankment was more than 2 meters.
Wang Jing, who could not swim, was not able to successfully rescue Zhang, and they both drowned.
Dai Dongming, a doctor at the emergency department of a hospital nearby, rushed at the place the accident happened. He said by the time they arrived at the scene, Wang was already pulled out of the river by other villagers and was lying on the bank.
They performed emergency rescue operation at the site but they soon found out that he had lost his vital signs.
On the ambulance and finally at the hospital, the medical staff did not give up hope and employed all manners possible to rescue him. After 40 minutes on a high-level rescuing operation at the hospital, they finally accepted the harsh truth that Wang can not be brought back to life.
Wang's parents are very old and they are not in a good physical condition. His wife works at a barbecue shop in the town while his daughter is only 6 years old.
Wang's colleagues said he was a warm-hearted, kind and gentle person.
The local government is organizing to appease and offer help to the families of the deceased. Wang will also be honored for his courageous act.
