A recent interview of a Chinese man whose family settled in eastern Africa's Zanzibar islands has gone viral on Chinese social media.
Mr. He was born and raised in Zanzibar, his father settled in the idyllic island in the 1920s.
Originally from Guangdong province, Mr. He can not speak Mandarin and the interview with a fellow Chinese was conducted fully in English.
A savvy entrepreneur, Mr. He has managed to start a very successful business and built a home in the island. He has his own factory and is married to a fellow Chinese whose father also settled in the island many years ago.
He speaks of a comfortable, slow-paced life in Zanzibar and how easy it is to make it in the island, unlike the fast-paced life some of his family members chose in developed countries like Singapore.
