ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has started making arrangements for the phased return of Pakistani students to China who had returned after the COVID-19 situation.
The Embassy of Pakistan issued a statement in which both sides agreed on a gradual return subject to the Covid19 situation in China. The embassy said it has long been in touch with relevant Chinese authorities regarding the return of Pakistani students to their universities in China.
He said that the extraordinary and unprecedented situation caused by the outbreak of the COVID19 pandemic has affected the educational activities of students around the world, including Pakistani students enrolled in Chinese universities, many of whom are currently located in Pakistan.
The embassy has long been in contact with the relevant Chinese authorities regarding the return of Pakistani students to their universities in China.
He pointed out that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif discussed the issue in his recent phone call with Chinese Premier Li Keqiang, who assured him that China attaches high priority to this issue. Both parties are now finalizing preparations for the early return of the first group of students.
The embassy will continue to investigate the matter with the Chinese authorities to bring back the remaining students as well, he added.
