The 8th Art Course
几万年前，我们的祖先就已经拥有珠宝首饰，首饰是交换、祝福与荣耀的载体。而今的首饰意义与目的是什么？
38亿年来，基因不断被复制，有机体不断被抛弃，我们把这个抛弃有机体的过程叫死亡。基因的复制需要有机体的生存与繁殖，所以生存与繁衍是生物发展两大轴心动力。
在人类社会，为了生存发明了工具，为了繁衍发明了首饰。随着社会的发展，首饰不断被赋予新的意义，如财产，权利，宗教，阶级，身份，感官，理性，观念等。
首饰并非我们今天看到的为了美的目的而存在的，是为了功能，功能达到后的愉悦感，常常又构成了美的条件。美是后来一个修饰或遮掩的总结性的东西。所以首饰的本质是为了解决繁衍的难题，如性资源的争夺，如优质资源的甄别，这是首饰之于人类最根源的意义。

大学艺术中心第八期艺术课程邀请东长工作室创始人张硕老师和陈小文老师，为我们带来关于首饰设计美学的课程系列，带领大家去探索首饰中蕴含的自我，用美学的思辨去反思设计。

●课程目标 | Course Objectives●
引导学生在首饰中感受美，探讨首饰中蕴含的自我，通过自身首饰设计表达自我反观自我，并用美学的思辨反思设计。探索设计的本质，建立纵深的史学眼光和宏廓的文化视野，培养敏锐的思维、深刻的理解力、深邃的洞察力和优秀的表现力、以及面向未来的开拓力。

This course aims to guide students to experience the beauty in jewellery, explore one’s inner self via jewellery, express and reflect on oneself through jewellery design and reconsider the design aesthetically. It also focuses on exploring the essence of design, helping students with in-depth, all-round historical and cultural visions, improving students’ abilities of thinking, understanding, expressing and enabling them to foster pioneering and innovative spirits for the future.

Zhang shuo & Chen Xiaowen
张硕，平面设计师，独立策展人，广州美术学院客座讲师，毕业于广州美术学院视觉艺术设计学院。
Zhang Shuo, a graphic designer and independent curator, graduated from School of Visual Communication, Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts (hereafter referred to as "GAFA").
陈小文，珠宝首饰设计师，独立策展人，广州美术学院客座讲师，毕业于广州美术学院装饰艺术系，后赴巴黎珠宝工会研读珠宝工艺与设计，回国后于2012年创立珠宝品牌東長。
Chen Xiaowen, a jewellery designer, artist and curator, graduated from the Department of Decorative Arts from GAFA, and further studied in Paris Jewelry Trade Union majoring in Jewellery Craft and Design. After returning to China in 2012, Xiaowen cofounded Jewellery Brand "Dongchang" with the graphic designer Zhang Shuo.

东长首饰工作室，以极度节制的思考，去实践首饰与身体恰如其分的表达。首饰是精神的外观，经由首饰反观内己。以美的深度进入生活，让情绪与感知变成形态且可穿戴。在当代的语境下，首饰的目的是表达内心深处的那部分“我”。
东长围绕首饰品牌为基础，也进行多方向的实践，学术研究、高校教学、艺术创作、策展等。如多年来持续进行的《2万5千年人类珠宝历史研究》，广州美术学院等院校讲学授课，策划首饰展览与艺术展等。

Dongchang Jewellery Studio tries to present jewellery and body properly in a restrained and moderate way. Jewellery is the appearance of spirit. One’s inner self could always be reflected through it. Dongchang observes and experiences life aesthetically, making emotions and perceptions visible and wearable. Today, the ultimate objective of jewellery is to express one’s deepest inner self.
Based on jewellery, Dongchang also has multidimensional explorations in academic researches, teaching in universities, artistic creation and curation. Relevant programs include the historical research on jewellery in 25,000 years that has been carried out over the years, giving guest lectures in Guangzhou Academy, organizing jewelry exhibitions and art exhibitions, etc...
大学艺术中心艺术课程
大学艺术中心将开设不同艺术类别的带学分课程和不带学分课程，邀请艺术家制定教学计划，并邀请多位客座讲师和教授授课，使得艺术课程与艺术活动相辅相成。
University Arts Centre will offer courses in a variety of art forms, either credit bearing or non-credit bearing. Artists will be invited to design instructional plans and visiting lecturers and professors will be invited to give lectures. This will reinforce the aim of the Centre, which is to enrich the culture and art atmosphere of the University with artistic activities.
