三角洲The Delta INST 即将推出可以画廊艺术家王一个人项目「图形猎手」,展览将呈现王一18件绘画及装置新作。展览将于2023年5月27日开幕,展至7月2日。

“图形猎手”是对艺术家的工作方法和艺术态度的提炼。所有图像在艺术家那里都如现成物一般呈现出来,人的形象也被视为某种“物”,并与艺术家平等地处于一种“互猎”的关系之中。在这种关系之下,艺术家可能会征服图像并陈列出自己的战利品,也有可能沦陷在图像的丛林中,成为被图像俘获的万千俘虏之一。尽管如此,艺术家仍然坚持着日复一日的紧张“狩猎”,从中积累了大量经验,并初步形成了自己的工作方法。

从艺术史中形式分析的角度出发,王一的绘画语言可以被归类为一种“硬边绘画”,这并非艺术家对于美术史的“断章取义”,而是源于艺术家自身的教育背景与创作经验。在大量的对经典图像的观看与训练中,艺术家得出:“以文艺复兴为代表的经典艺术中,对形体和空间的处理可以被概括为‘外实内虚‘。”因此在王一的绘画中,“硬边”并不是简单的形式语言,而是一种在图像时代中经典的美学追求。

另一方面,艺术家对以马列维奇所代表的先锋派绘画中的解放性与精神性感到共鸣,王一认为,在先锋派艺术的重构中有一种与古典主义类似的对于“对象化的人”的追求,而现代化的现实则是更加抽丝剥茧地抹去了“人”。因此王一对马列维奇的至上主义的引用,实际上是呈现着艺术家对于人性以及艺术中隐藏的“目光”的批判和思考。两种艺术普世价值——文艺复兴绘画以来的经典人文主义的普世性与先锋派艺术对世界重新规划的进步的普世性被艺术家放置于他的视镜之下,并捕捉着其不自知的运动轨迹。

The Delta INST will launch "Graphics Hunter", a solo project by artist Wang Yi. The exhibition will present Wang Yi's 18 new paintings and installations. The exhibition will open on 27 May 2023 and runs until 2 July.

The "graphic hunter" is a generalization of the artist's working method and attitude. All images are presented to the artist as ready-made objects, and the human figure is considered as well a kind of "object" and is in a relationship of "mutual hunting" with the artist. Under this relationship, the artist may conquer the image and display his trophy, or he may fall into the jungle of images and become one of the thousands of captives captured by them. Nonetheless, the artist persists in the intense "hunting" day after day and has accumulated a great deal of experience from it, and has initially developed his own working method.

From the perspective of formal analysis in art history, Wang Yi's painting language can be classified as a kind of "hard-edge painting", which is not the artist's "out-of-context" interpretation of art history, but comes from the artist's own educational background and creative experience. Through extensive viewing and training of classical images, the artist concluded that "in the classical art represented by the Renaissance, the treatment of form and space can be summarized as 'external solidity and internal emptiness'." Therefore, in Wang Yi's paintings, "hard edge" is not simply a formal language, but a classical aesthetic pursuit in the age of images.

On the other hand, the artist resonates with the emancipation and spirituality of the avant-garde painting represented by Malevich. Wang Yi believes that in the reconstruction of avant-garde art there is a pursuit of the "objectified man" similar to classicalism, while the modern reality is a more abstracted erasure of the "The reality of modernization is a more abstract erasure of the "person. Therefore, Wang Yi's reference to Malevich's suprematism actually presents the artist's critique and reflection on human nature and the hidden "gaze" in art. Two universal values of art - the universalism of classical humanism since Renaissance painting and the progressive universalism of avant-garde art that reprograms the world - are placed under the artist's goggles, and their unaware movement is captured.

王一,2020年本科毕业于中国美术学院油画系。2023年取得中国美术学院油画系硕士学位,现居杭州。

About Artist

Wang Yi, graduated from the Department of Oil Painting of China Academy of Art in 2020. He received his master's degree in Oil Painting from China Academy of Art in 2023 and now lives in Hangzhou.
