I’m on the way to take my granddaughter to hospital. She has something wrong with her skin, but we live in a bit of a remote area so it takes some time to get there. This year she is 8 and she will lead a very different life compared what I've led. This year I am 50 years old. I have 1 daughter and 1 granddaughter. My daughter has no time to take her to see the doctor, as she is busy working. I have more free time than she has. During the evenings I sell oranges and dragon fruit on the streets, and in the daytime, I grow rice. We can grow two crops of rice once a year, but we grow far too much, so we can sell some to make money. The work is hard and it gets very hot during the summer here. If I have any more spare time, I like to make cloth and clothes using an old wooden machine I have. I married at the age of 16 to my husband, who is still alive. He was also 16 and at 20 I had our daughter. It was very common back then to marry at such a young age without knowing the man. I started to tattoo my hands and dye my teeth at the age of 10. Tattooing was pretty painful, but we all wanted tattoos. Afterwards my hands were big and swollen, we all helped each other. The black layer on our teeth keeps them healthy. My daughter and my granddaughter won't follow these kinds of traditions. They don’t have black teeth or tattoos, but we continue to celebrate our festivals such as, the Water Splashing Festival in April.

我现在带我外孙女去医院。她有点皮肤病，我们住的又有点远，过去医院要花点时间。她今年8岁了，她以后要过的生活和我以前的生活很不一样。我今年50岁，有一个女儿一个外孙女。我女儿上班很忙，没时间带她去医院，我更有空。我晚上的时候在街上卖橘子和火龙果，白天的时候在家种水稻。我们这里的水稻一年收两次，但是我们种的特别多，想多收点粮食卖了挣钱。干农活很辛苦，而且这里的夏天很热。如果我有时间的话，我想在家用我自己的木头机器织布和做衣服。我16岁的时候嫁给我丈夫的，他也还在世。他当时也是16岁，我们20岁的时候有个女儿。在当时结婚早很正常，而且很多人也都是不了解结婚对象就结婚了。我大概在我10岁左右的时候在我手上纹身，染牙齿。纹身很疼但是我们所有人还是想纹。纹身后，我的手肿的很大，我们当时会互相帮对方纹身。给牙齿染黑能让我们的牙齿健康。我女儿和外孙女没有继续这些传统。她们没有黑牙齿，但是我们还是继续庆祝一些节日，比如四月份的泼水节。
