There are so many changes when a person comes to college. Some of thenew college students may have been to camps or programs away from home before, but for some it’s the very first time they’ve left home. That means having tomake certain decisions that they’ve never really had to make before.
Besides some basic everyday activities, for example, eating and doing laundry, there are many more important matters, such as whom to becomefriends with. “And what happens if I don’t do well on my first test? Does thatmean I should change fields?” Obviously, there are just so many issues newcollege students have to face. It’s really a jump from high school.
It’s such a change when they don’t have any parents around. They need to make choices with their studies, and with their social lives. They needto learn how to act in the right way so that they can enjoy their social liveswithout ruining their studies.
This is very common to college students in the first year. It takes alittle while for them to get used to their college life and learn to balancetheir studies and social lives. There are a lot of opportunities forstudents to try new things. There are so many new ways to meet other people on campus. If they find out it’s not working for them, they can step back and trysomething else. They should just give it a go! That’s the way everybody learnsto grow up.
