2017年8月23日，贾平凹长篇小说《高兴》英文版全球首发仪式在北京举行。活动上，亚马逊中国副总裁、亚马逊阅读总经理艾博儒对贾平凹先生表示祝贺并发表致辞。

It is a great honor and privilege for me to speak on behalf of Amazon and congratulate Mr. Jia Pingwa on his marvelous achievement and the publication of his new book in English.

今天，我非常有幸代表亚马逊，恭贺贾平凹先生英文版新书的出版和他无以伦比的文学成就。

Mr. Jia stands as one of the biggest names in contemporary Chinese literature, we’ve all witnessed his prolific production of bestselling novels and his tremendous audience all over the Chinese speaking world.  As Guardian once reported: Mr. Jia is one of the great untranslated Chinese authors, today, we’re happy to say that we feel privileged and thrilled to bring such a distinguished author to worldwide English readers.

贾平凹先生是中国现代文学中最为闪耀的巨星之一，多年来，我们共同见证了贾平凹老师笔耕不辍的文学巨作和他在华语世界中的巨大影响。几年前，英国《卫报》在一次采访中写道：贾平凹老师是中国尚未被翻译作家中最杰出的代表之一。今天，我们非常有幸，能将这样一位著名作家的作品带给全世界的英语读者。

Today’s event is also the first time ever that Amazon hold a global launch ceremony for a Chinese author. Happy Dreams, is a powerful depiction of life in industrializing contemporary China, in all its humor and pathos, as seen through the eyes of our unyielding protagonist: Happy Liu. Happiness, is the ultimate goal of all human beings, in a way, Mr. Jia’s work is universally appealing to all readers. Man or woman, westerner or Chinese, we are all the same.

今天的仪式还是亚马逊第一次为中国作家举办的全球首发式。《高兴》这部著作，是对当代中国现代化工业进程栩栩如生的描写，通过我们不屈的主人公，刘高兴，展现了生活的幽默和悲怆。幸福，是所有人追求的终极目标，在这点上，贾平凹老师的作品对所有读者都有吸引力。男人或女人，西方人或中国人，在追求幸福的道路上，我们都是一样的。

For the past few years, Amazon has made dedicated efforts on the initiatives to spot and bring exquisite Chinese literary to overseas readers. We’ve acquired 19 Chinese titles, 5 out of 15 titles published have hit No.1 in Asian Literature browse node. These achievement has further enhanced our confidence and strengthened our determination in translation.

在过去几年中，亚马逊为发现、翻译并出版优秀的中文文学作品做出了不懈努力。我们将19部中国作品列入翻译计划，在已经出版的15部作品中，有5部登上了亚洲文学排行榜榜首的位置。这些成就进一步加强了我们翻译中文作品的决心。

In a few days, Happy Dreams will meet millions of North America Prime readers, it is also the only Chinese translation that has been chosen for the program this year. We sincerely hope that many will enjoy Happy Dreams as we do.  I believe, the publication of Happy Dreams is just a very small step of great expectations ahead of us. With the help of books like Happy Dreams, we will be able to encourage more to immerse themselves into the splendid Chinese culture.

再有几天，《高兴》英文版就要与数百万北美Prime会员见面了，Happy Dreams 也是今年唯一入选Kindle First 计划的中文翻译作品。我们衷心希望，美国的读者会和我们一样喜欢《高兴》这本书。我相信，《高兴》英文版的出版仅仅是万里长征的第一步，通过更多像《高兴》这样的书籍，我们可以让更多人真心喜欢上灿烂的中国文化。
