In accordance with the relevant arrangement, the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Uganda will make adjustments on visa application requirements as follows:Foreign nationals with valid APEC Business Travel Cards or foreign students holding valid Chinese residence permits for study are allowed to enter China with no need for applying for new visas.For foreign students who intend to go to China for long-term academic education in China, new students can apply for study visas directly to the Embassy of China in Uganda with the original and photocopy of the Admission Letter issued by a school or other entities in China and original and photocopy of "Visa Application for Study in China" (Form JW201 or Form JW202), while returning students can apply for study visas with the proof of returning to school.The requirements for other categories of visa application remain unchanged (Please find attached "Notice on the Latest Requirements for Visa Application (updated on 25 August 2022)").Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Uganda25 August 2022 Notice on the Latest Requirements for VisaApplication(updated on 25 August 2022) According to the current global pandemic situation, in order to further meet the needs of necessary international personnel exchanges, the following adjustments are made for Chinese Visa Application:1.Application materials and types of visas accepted(1)Basic materialsThe following documents are required in applying all categories of visas:①Certificate of COVID-19 Vaccination. Before entering China, foreigners should be fully inoculated with COVID-19 vaccine(s) approved by China/World Health Organization for emergency use/market.②Passport. Original passport should be with at least six(6) months of remaining validity, two or more blank visa pages, and a photocopy of information page.③Signed visa application form and confirmation page. Log in to https://cova.cs.mfa.gov.cn to fill in the Visa Application Form online. After confirming that it is correct, print and sign the above form and confirmation page.④Photos. A recently-taken, front, bareheaded, colour passport photo (48mm×33mm) against a light background must be submitted.⑤Proof of legal stay or residence status (applicable to non-Ugandan applicants)(2) Visa Categories currently accepted and additional required documents.
Note:To apply for the emergency humanitarian visafor the purpose of arrangingfuneral matters or visitinga family memberin critical medical conditionsin China,applicants shall submit the identity document of the deceased or critically ill patient (such as a Chinese identity card or a foreign passport), a death certificateora medical certificate of the patient issued by the hospital, proof of kinship, and other necessary documents as required.
2. Application process(1) Log in to https://cova.cs.mfa.gov.cn to fill in the Visa Application Form online, print and sign the above form and confirmation page.(2) Email relevant materials to consulate_uga@163.com. The email title format must be unified as follows: visa type - applicant's name.(3) Submit the application materials(hard copy) and apply for a visa at the Embassy, according to the time indicated in the email response.3. Timeline for visa processPhysical Visa Application: The e-mail appointment time shall prevail. On-site applications outside the e-mail appointment time will not be accepted.Processing time: Five (5) working days. (Please note that this may vary due to unforeseen factors.)4.Attention4.1 Foreigners who are eligible for various visa exemption agreements do not need to apply for visas.4.2 Foreigners who hold valid Chinese permanent residence permit do not need to apply for visas.4.3 Foreigners holding valid residence permits for work, personal affairs, resident journalists, reunion and study do not need to apply for visas.4.4 Foreigners holding valid APEC Business Travel Cards are allowed to enter China with no need for applying for new visas.4.5 Visa applications for tourism, medical treatment and other personal matters are still suspended.4.6Applicants should abide by the regulations of the Chinese Embassy on COVID-19 prevention and control requirements before boarding the plane. 5. This Notice on Updated Requirements for Chinese Visa Application comes into effect on the date as it publicizes.
