How foreigners apply for driving licenses in China？

Guangzhou's transportation is very developed. Citizens can choose to travel by subway or bus. And they can reach their destination no matter how far they are. But if you want to make it easier to visit distant clients at work or go on short trips, driving by car is a better choice.

Nowadays, neither an international driving license nor a foreign driving license is allowed to drive in China. Even with a Hong Kong and Macau driving license, you cannot drive on the mainland. If foreigners want to drive in China, they must obtain a Chinese driving license.

If you don't have an overseas driving license

a. Applicants are required to be at least 18 years old and have a Chinese temporary or permanent residence permit

b. Applicants are required to attend a driving training course provided by a local driving school and pass the 4 required tests:

① Subject 1: Examination of road traffic safety laws, regulations and related knowledge

The driving laws in China are different from those in foreign countries and require constant practice. There are a total of 100 multiple-choice questions, each with 1 point. The full score is 100 points, and 90 points are qualified. The test time is 45 minutes. You can make up the test once on the spot.

② Subject 2: Field Driving Skills Test

Test items: backing into the garage, parking on the side, parking and starting at a fixed point on a ramp, turning at a right angle, and driving on a curve. 80 points qualified, can make up once on the spot.

③ Subject 3: Road driving skills and common sense of civilized driving

Including road driving and lighting test, 90 points pass, one can make up the test on the spot.

④ Subject 4: Derivative multiple-choice test of subject 3

There are 50 multiple-choice questions (single-choice questions, multiple-choice questions, and true-false questions), each with 2 points, 90 points are qualified, and the test time is 30 minutes.

If you have an overseas driving license

a. Hold an overseas motor vehicle driving license, which must be an official driving license and within the validity period

b. Hold a visa for more than 3 months
