Diwali
Diwali, also known as the Festival of Lights, Indian Festival of Lights or Deepavali. It is the most solemn festival in India, equivalent to Chinese New Year and Western Christmas. Diwali is a Hindu, Sikh and Jain festival celebrating "to drive out darkness with light and conquer evil with goodness". Also seen as a celebration of "inner light", some Buddhist believers also celebrate this festival.
Diwali is held in October or November every year and is celebrated for 5 days at the end of August in the Hindu calendar, the last day of the last month of the Indian lunar calendar. This year's Diwali is October 24th, just today!
