What would you do to celebrate your friend’s achievement?

I’m gonna throw a party for my friend. I think it’s a big deal to achieve something like receiving an award or passing an interview, and I’m sure she’d like to share this happy moment with friends, especially close ones. A nice party not only provides us a chance to congratulate her, but also let her share some practical tips or suggestions so that later we may get a better shot at accomplishing something big. With respect to the planning of the party, frankly speaking, I don’t want to make it a surprise since it’s necessary to make sure that she is willing to hold such an event considering that some people may prefer to keep a low profile. Moreover, I’ll decide the guest list with her otherwise I may bring someone who she feels uneasy around. After all, the party is all about her and I’d like to make sure that she would have a good time.

Your school is going to shut down the computer room since many of the students have already had laptops. What do you think of this idea?

I don’t think it’s a good idea to close the computer lab on campus despite the fact that many students today possess their own laptops. There’ll may be some people who need to use the laptop but don’t have one at hand. Sometimes this could be pretty urgent, for example, what if a student has to catch the deadline of a paper while unfortunately her laptop breaks? Professors either don’t allow late submission or would reduce scores from papers handed in after the due day. Moreover, computer lab not only provides laptops, but also has other related devices or service. For instance, there are printing and scanning machines where students could get the hard copy of their assignments; there may also be some assistants who offer guidance to students who have difficulty in using such software as SPSS and photo shop. The computer lab is a useful facility on campus.
