I’d like to have a friendly roommate so that life on campus would be quite enjoyable. With a nice roommate, I won’t feel that homesick and may find it easier to adapt to the new environment. When I was in Britain, me and my roommates always celebrated traditional Chinese festivals with home-cooked meals and a nice cake. What’s more, we dined out from time to time and organized small trips during school breaks. Although we did miss our families occasionally, we never felt lonely since we were always there for each other. Moreover, it’s easy to communicate with a friendly roommate, I mean, I could ask them to keep the volume down when I need a quiet environment or to clear the trash out regularly.  They wouldn’t feel troubled or even offended since we’re close to one another.

Some people reward children for their good behaviors while others punish them for misbehaviors. Which one do you think is better?

答案示例

I think we should reward children for good behaviors since it would motivate them to continue such behaviors and therefore, forming good habits. When children share household tasks or get a high score in the exam, parents may praise them or buy them little gifts. In this way, they'll feel accomplished and know that they should always act in this way. In contrast, punishment isn’t the right approach to prevent misbehaviors. The point is to let children understand why they shouldn’t do certain things rather than simply disciplining them once they break the rules. In fact, some children may intentionally go against rules or regulations just to show their anger toward the punishment. We need to find proper ways to guide the children so that they’ll be willing to form good manners.
