Some people think people are more likely to read negative news rather than positive news. Do you agree or disagree with this idea?

Generally speaking, I think people tend to be more attracted by negative news, which usually leaves us with a deeper impression. Many positive news reports either sound alike or seem like other people's stories that have nothing to do with us. In contrast, negative news often makes us alert, I mean, they may happen in another country, but people feel that they could also befall us one day, and the simple idea of this catches our attention. Besides, somehow we're more likely to have empathy or sympathy for people stuck in personal tragedies or natural disasters than to share the joy of strangers or public figures like politicians and movie stars, and that's probably why scandals of such people never fails to become popular topics.
