20191207 独立口语考题 

Some people think graduate students should teach undergraduates some low-level courses and be fully responsible for class while others think they should only tutor students and help professors record grades. Which idea do you agree with?

I don’t think it’s a good idea to let the graduate students give courses to the undergraduates since they won’t have enough time. Giving courses involves lots of things, like preparing for classes, marking papers, and answering students’ questions after class. Graduate students already have a tight schedule with their own courses to take and deadlines to catch, and one single paper may need them to read a dozen of books and lots of journal articles. With all these things going on, they can hardly give high-quality course to others. Yet if they do wanna offer academic support, they may join the tutoring programs related to math, paper writing and so on, or assist professors with some paperwork, which won’t be too big a time commitment.
