Should parents discourage their children from choosing some majors which might be very competitive to find a job in the future, like professional athletes and singers?（同2018.07.07）

Generally speaking, I think parents should be supportive and encourage their children to pursue their dreams as long as children have thought twice about their decisions. If children have really thought it through and are willing to pay efforts, there’s no reason for parents to stand in the way. Instead, parents could provide proper guidance and assistance so as to help their children make progress. When children meet setbacks or feel frustrated, they’ll need parents’ comfort, which enables them to power through adversities. Moreover, young people are expected to shoot for the stars. Someone would become successful athlete or singer and that “someone” could be them. We’ve all heard stories about how a singer rises to fame against great odds, and such figures could be role models for children.
