At the press conference on COVID-19 prevention and control in Shanghai held on the morning of April 3, Ms. Wu Qianyu, 1st-Level Inspector with Shanghai Municipal Health Commission reported that the city added 438 new local cases and 7,788 local asymptomatic ones on April 2. Among the 438 confirmed cases, 16 were found in the closed loop quarantine, 349 were tracked in the nucleic acid testing of high-risk groups, and 73 were former asymptomatic cases. Among the 7,788 asymptomatic ones, 6,773 were found in the closed loop quarantine, and the other 1,015 were tracked in the screening of high-risk groups.

As for the 438 confirmed cases, 211 are male and 227 are female. Regarding the cases by district, Pudong New Area has 108 cases, Minhang 55 cases, Xuhui 44 cases, Putuo 39 cases, Baoshan 35 cases, Hongkou 30 cases, Huangpu 27 cases, Jing’an 26 cases, Jiading 26 cases, Yangpu 19 cases, Songjiang 8 cases, Fengxian 8 cases, Changning 7 cases, Qingpu 3 cases and Chongming 3 cases.

The above-said 438 individuals were diagnosed as confirmed COVID-19 cases with mild symptoms according to the group consultations of municipal medical experts based on their epidemiological histories, clinical data, lab test results and imaging examination.

There were 87,981 close contacts of the above-said close contacts tracked in the city and placed under disease management. 81,542 of them have tested negative, and the others are being tested.

Currently, we are pushing forward the new round of nucleic acid screening to mainly eliminate the risk points and cut off the transmission chains of virus. With these efforts, we will contain the spread of COVID-19 and achieve the dynamic zero-COVID cases at the social level as early as possible. According to the previous nucleic acid screening results, we decide to launch city-wide antigen testing on April 3 and city-wide nucleic acid testing on April 4.
