生命的守护
赵丽先,曾经以素雅、深沉、安静的冷灰色的油画著称,营造出远离尘世,天地氤氲,万物化醇,和谐而宁静,令人神往的“诗意栖居”意境,并带有些许禅意的韵味而耐人寻味。
她近年的作品,画风大变,一反素颜淡雅的画面意境,以强烈响亮的色彩,粗犷泼辣的笔调,那种躁动不安的画面形象,令人心颤、紧张…… 她这么大跨度的变化,让我惊讶。 与她相识以来,给我的印象,她是恪守尽职的大学教授——谦逊好学、兴趣广泛、爱好哲学,信奉基督耶稣也研读佛学。她早期作品或许受宗教精神的影响,爱画静穆而旷远的画面空间,宛如置身在浩渺的宇宙,进入一个超现实的虚拟时空中。以母子为题的作品,表现在大自然怀抱中的母子过着与万物和谐共处安逸美好的生活。这或许正是她内心所企求的理想乐园。但命运多舛,近天年之际,她成了丧偶的单亲妈妈,何况又生活在湖北武汉,正处在突如其来疫情肆虐的中心地带,重重困难缠绕着她,这何其的艰辛难熬。即便如此,她也没有放松对艺术审美“更新”的追求,2021年她申请做访问学者到央美色彩大家唐承华教授工作室进修。匆匆一年多时光,让她走出了自己固有的绘画模式,创出了另一番新天地。虽依然是母爱“生命”主题,可是严酷的现实,崩塌了她所追求的安逸、恬静、虚幻的理想国奢望。当人人都在承受着疫情对生命威胁的社会现实,她又怎样来守护儿子的健康成长?她那惶恐、担忧、纠结、无助的复杂心绪,过往那严谨细腻的具象手法难以表达她此刻心力交瘁的煎熬。她尝试改为童话式的寓言表现,用色彩、用线条在平面化画面上,喷发她那激愤难忍的情绪。画面素描关系被忽视了,心理上与物象的距离感也消失了,凭着自己的感性直觉,在平面化的画面构造上任性地肆意涂抹,那非理性的张扬,享受着身体审美愉悦的快感。首先,她极尽用黑白、红绿、冷暖、明暗、深浅的色彩对比,碰撞和映照中,造就了璀璨夺目、通透响亮、生趣盎然的色彩魅力。其次,她善于使用黑色颜料,用粗犷简洁的富有生命律动的黑线条,勾勒出了动人心魄的形象。其中也有融入具有版画粗涩感的纯黑色块的画面,赋予了沉实和凝重的意韵。再次,画山的构成、水的波纹,那符号化的装饰性纹样,多少是借鉴了古代传统绘画的样式,经她随意地摆弄,夾杂了现代人的反叛意识,山体可拆开或叠加,水纹可自由游弋。“破坏即创造”,她的艺术竟焕然一新。概言之,她那满怀激情的色彩语言,辅以具有生命律动的强劲线条,画出既古拙又现代的符号化装饰性纹样。这三者造就了她个性化绘画语言新的审美品格。《倾听 · 之二》, 70×90cm, 布面丙烯, 2022
她的画风从具象到写意的转换,始于2019年的《待渡》,那时她保留了素雅灰调的宁静和舒缓,也把山、水符号化的装饰纹样融合进了画面。2021年的作品《遇见蝴蝶》、《窗下共读》开始用粗犷的黑线条勾画形象,从而增强了画面表现的力度和份量感。2021年做访问学者后,其色彩观念大变,开始了色彩绚丽的生涯。作于2022年的《倾听》系列,黑线条委婉地勾勒出女神的曲线美,桃红色身段在天、地、水的蓝绿冷色调中显得何其艳丽!《奔向梦境》系列中,黑沉沉的大海边,唯见青蓝色轻盈、澄明、通透的小兔,被一条黑线勾画出了它的动感,它正在奋力一跃而起越过波涛汹涌的大海,去寻找“梦境”中的“故乡”。这勇敢的小生命,怎不令人怜惜?《离岸》一画,蓝天飘荡着朵朵桃红色的游云,与小船中孩子的玫瑰肤色呼应,又与湖水、丛林相对应,深沉墨蓝的湖水中反射着天空里的片片蓝色块,这散落在湖面上的由大变小的色块把湖面推向了深远处,与天际线相接。两岸丛林冲出的猛兽扑向小船中的孩子,左边猛虎窜出丛林,翻卷起了漩涡般的风动,其速度、其强度颇有让人“闻风丧胆”的架势。其时天降神灵,美丽的神鸟伸展大翅膀护着小船中的孩子离开险境。如此复杂的这幅画,因有艳丽的玫红点亮了全画而勃勃生机。她在以丙烯颜料为主的材料中,善于用桃红、玫红、粉红等暖色系,与群青、钴蓝、松石绿等冷色系的色彩互相对比、呼应,产生铿锵有力的色彩效应;展现出绮丽、壮美、明丽、通透,色彩纯粹而又饱满响亮的画面效果。赵丽先以其丰富的相象力,创造出了独特的个性化绘画语言,将童话的寓言方式,用超现实的表现主义手法,实现了她艺术当代的转身。
母爱是伟大的,对生命的关怀是母性天质,赵丽先的作品散发出悲天悯人的人文情怀,她从人性出发顾及天下的生灵,探寻自然生命的深意。她那童话寓言式的作品,具有丰盈的想象力,有超知性、超见解、超本质,不可言说的一种神秘洞见。对神的崇拜和敬畏,是人生命意识的神性体验,是对“生命的信仰”,这是来自于生命自身的觉悟。心灵映射万象,万象无不是宇宙的生命体,宇宙间人与天地同心,与万物同情,与生灵共命。赵丽先从经验的生命体验进入到神性的生命体验,生命由生物性向天命性升华,在绵绵生命的神秘境里,把一个荒诞的物质世界提升到人的生命与宇宙浩然同流的精神世界,去追求生命的终极意义和终极价值。

《冷月无声 · 护婴图》, 70×90cm, 布面综合材料, 2022Zhao Lixian, once known for her cold gray painting featuring simplicity, elegance and tranquility, has created an artistic conception of “poetic dwelling”, which is far from the earthly world, mellow, harmonious and quiet, and fascinating. And there is a bit of Zen that is intriguing.However, her painting style has changed drastically in recent years. Instead of the plain and elegant picture mood, she presents strong and loud colors, rough and pungent strokes, and the restless picture image, which impress me with tremble and tension. I’m surprised at such great change of hers.To me, she has always presented herself as a dedicated professor after our first meeting – humble and studious, with a wide range of interests, a love of philosophy, a believer in Christ Jesus, and a researcher of Buddhism. Her early works may have been influenced by religious spirit, and she loves to paint quiet and far-flung picture spaces, like being in a vast universe, entering a surreal time and space. The works with the theme of mother and child show that the mother and child in the embrace of nature live a comfortable and beautiful life in harmony with all things. This may be the ideal paradise she has longed for. However, how unfortunate was she that, near the end of the year, she became a widowed single mother when she was about to be in her 50s, not to mention living in Wuhan, Hubei, in the epicenter of COVID-19. One just can’t image what she’s been through. Even so, she did not relax her pursuit of “renewing” artistic aesthetics. In 2021, she applied as a visiting scholar to study in the studio of Professor Tang Chenghua, a master of color in CAFA. In just over a year, she stepped out of her inherent painting mode and created another new world. Although it is still the theme of “life” of mother’s love, the harsh reality has collapsed the extravagant hope of her pursuit of comfort, tranquility and Utopia. When everyone is suffering from the life-threatening epidemic, how can she protect her son for healthy growth? Her complicated feelings of fear, worry, entanglement, and helplessness, and her rigorous and delicate figurative methods in the past could hardly express her torment at the moment. She tried to change it to a fairy tale-like allegory expression, using colors and lines on the flat screen to exude her unbearable emotions. The relationship between painting and sketch has been ignored, and the psychological sense of distance from the object has also disappeared. With her own perceptual intuition, she arbitrarily smears on the flat picture structure. With that irrational publicity, she enjoys the body aesthetic pleasure. First of all, she uses black and white, red and green, cold and warm, light and shade, and shades of color contrast to create a dazzling, transparent, loud and interesting color charm in collision and reflection. Secondly, she is good at using black paint, using rough and simple black lines full of life rhythm to outline a moving image. Among them, there are also pictures incorporating pure black blocks with a rough sense of print, which endows them with a solemn and dignified rhyme. Thirdly, the composition of the painting mountains, the ripples of the water, and the symbolic decorative patterns are somewhat borrowed from the ancient traditional painting styles. The mountain body can be disassembled or overlapped, and the water pattern can be freely cruising. “Destruction is creation”, her art has taken on a whole new look. In a word, her passionate color language, supplemented by strong lines with rhythm of life, draws both ancient and modern symbolic decorative patterns. This is how a new aesthetic character of her personalized painting language is created.The transition of her painting style from figurative to freehand began in “Waiting to Cross” in 2019. At that time, she retained the tranquility and soothing of the simple and elegant gray tone, and also integrated the decorative patterns of mountains and water into the painting. Rough black lines first appeared in “Meet the Butterfly” and “Reading Together under the Window” in 2021 to outline the image, thus enhancing the strength and weight of the painting. After becoming a visiting scholar in 2021, her concept of color changed greatly, and she started a colorful career. In the “Listening” series in 2022, the black lines euphemistically outline the curvaceous beauty of the goddess, and how gorgeous the pink figure looks in the cool blue-green tones of the sky, earth and water! In the “Towards the Dreamland” series, on the dark seaside, only the cyan, light, clear, and transparent little rabbit is drawn by a black line. It is struggling to jump up and cross the rough sea, to find the “hometown” in the “dreamland”. How can this brave little life not be pitied? In the painting “Offshore”, the blue sky is full of pink floating clouds, which echoes the rose skin color of the children in the boat, and also corresponds to the lake and the jungle. The deep blue lake reflects the blue pieces on the blue sky. Blocks, the large and small color blocks scattered on the lake push the lake to a far-reaching place, connecting with the skyline. The beasts rushing out of the jungle on both sides of the strait rushed towards the child in the boat, and the tiger on the left rushed out of the jungle, rolling up a vortex-like wind, and its speed and strength were quite “frightening”. At that time, the gods descended from the sky, and the beautiful divine bird stretched out its big wings to protect the child in the boat from danger. Such a complex painting is full of vigor because of the gorgeous rose red that lights up the whole painting. In the materials based on acrylic paint, she is good at using warm colors such as peach red, rose red and pink, contrasting and echoing with cool colors such as ultramarine blue, cobalt blue, and turquoise gree, producing a sonorous and powerful color effect; beautiful, magnificent, bright, transparent, of pure color, full and loud. Zhao Lixian has created a unique and personalized painting language with her rich imagery, using the allegorical way of fairy tales and surreal expressionism to realize the contemporary transformation of her art.Mother’s love is great, and her care for life is the nature of motherhood. Her compassion starting from human nature reaches all living beings in the world and explores the deep meaning of natural life. Her heart sympathizes with all things and living beings. Zhao Lixian moved from the experience of life to that of divine life. Life is sublimated from biology to destiny. In the mysterious realm of continuous life, she elevated an absurd material world to a spiritual world where human life and the universe coexist to pursue the ultimate meaning and value of life.
