Can you Imagine a World without Trees?
The world as we know it would literally CEASE TO EXIST. And while it’s hard to imagine a scenario in which every tree on earth is cut down, we are DESTROYING THE TREES WE HAVE AT AN ALARMING RATE.
In fact, we’re losing an area of forest the size of the UK every year — that’s about 26 MILLION HECTARES OF TREES LOST each year from 2014-2018.
🌲
WHY DOES IT MATTER?
The loss of trees effects more than just the amount of oxygen — it can also mean a LOSS OF CLEAN WATER and BIODIVERSITY which can result in harmful diseases for both humans and animals.
Trees don’t just contribute to clean air, they contribute to CLEANER LIVING in every aspect.
TREES ARE VITAL FOR OUR SURVIVAL — but you don’t have to take it from us. We loved receiving these 'tree-love' stories from the Boomí community. We hope you enjoy reading them just as much as we did!
I love nature so much ! I love having plants at home I talk to them and them bloom gorgeously. Every morning I listen to the birds singing, why? Because wherever there are trees, there is life! I love to hug trees whenever I walk barefoot on the grass. It heals me as I connect with them. Can you feel them too?
I want to share a quote from Mother Nature’s — “ you are not necessary, the earth, the air, the water, the sky without you are fine . When you come back, remember you are my guests not my masters.”

There is a little forest right in front of my balcony. Although living in the city rarely gives us the chance to get close to the real forest, this mini one of about 30-40 green trees has provided a very valuable experience for me and my family.
Everyday I’d love to spend a few minutes watching the beautiful green unfold in the sun, listening to the gentle rustle of leaves when the wind blows... It’s only a few minutes, but can bring true inner peace and joy. This is probably the most incredible ability of trees! They are the silent magicians on the Earth.

On each day my brother and I were born, my father planted a breadfruit tree. This was an ancient custom on the island that every family would have one of those trees to prevent famine.
The breadfruit tree, close to jackfruit, was even the object of an epic british expedition in the 18th century, as its nutritious properties were already renowned! This tree however does not grow outside of tropical climate, and thetefore is not widely known. It is still nowadays a consequent source of starch in many islands, and is such an important part of their history that it even has its own legend!
My family moved a long time ago and "my" tree probably doesn't exist anymore, but I still like the symbol of celebrating a birth with a tree that will provide food for the child when they both grow older together.

So what can you do to KEEP OUR FORESTS — and in turn, YOU — HEALTHY?
While there are many SMALL STEPS you can take to make a difference today — such as using LESS PLASTIC, BUYING LESS stuff, REDUCING use of CARS and PLANES and so much more — planting trees it is an important step in ensuring our future.
PLANTING TREES has a massive impact in terms of absorbing atmospheric carbon dioxide, the main driver of climate change.
Tom Crowther is a climate change ecologist at Swiss university ETH Zurich, his team of researchers has calculated there is enough room on the planet for an additional 1.2 trillion trees!
WE'VE GOT A LOT OF PLANTING TO DO!
This is why we’ve partnered with Roots & Shoots to plant 25 FORESTS BY THE END OF 2025 IN INNER MONGOLIA — an area plagued by DESERTIFICATION**.
[**DESERTIFICATION is the process by which fertile land becomes desert, typically as a result of drought, deforestation, or inappropriate agriculture.]
By planting trees here, it ensures that the animals and plants that are supposed to live in this region can do so.
Reducing desertification also PROTECTS HUMANS FROM NATURAL DISASTERS such as flooding and dust storms — while providing cooling shade and more oxygen!
We've already been able to plant 2,000 trees thanks to you!

HAPPY EARTH DAY BOOMÍERS
We’ll leave you with this beautiful video from NASA to serenade you while you think about how many trees you’re going to plant this year...
SOUND ON
The video is what NASA’s Earth data sounds like when it’s turned into music. With each passing Earth Day, the drums get louder. Every sound and instrument tell a story.
The higher the pitch of the music, the more data collected from NASA Earth science missions. The guitar represents the mission launches. The orchestra is split up based on the field of each mission.
