主讲人简介



Dr. Xie Qin is Assistant Professor of Language Assessment and primary supervisor of doctoral students at the Education University of Hong Kong. She has published about 30 journal articles on high-impact international journals. Dr. Xie is the recipient of over two million research grants. She has been elected to serve as Member-at-Large for Asia Association of Language Assessment since 2019 and serves as Associate Editor of the flagship journal: Language Assessment Quarterly, section editor for Journal of Asia TEFL, and as an editorial board member of Language Education and Assessment, and rEFLections.

讲座内容

In this talk, I will present two inter-related studies that my students and I have conducted with in-service and pre-service English language teachers in a primary and a secondary school in Hong Kong. Both studies aimed at achieving an in-depth understanding of the teachers’ adoption of formative assessment strategies in English writing classes and to answer two research questions, namely, how did the teachers transform FA principles into concrete classroom practices and activities? And what are the factors facilitating and/or constraining their practices? Both studies provide insights into teachers’ actual FA practices in L2 writing classrooms and revealed both potentials and problems associated with this approach, which could be of interests to both practicing and aspiring English teachers.
