展览:觉——看见声音

展览前言


这是一个偏好多维感官体验的时代,借由一些新兴的技术手段,同一事物在不同领域的多样性被逐渐挖掘,在打破原有认知后,全新的体验接踵而至。


日常中不可见的声音被设计师灵光一现捕捉到,通过算法设计、视觉艺术、媒体设计和交互设计,结合智能制造,突破感官界限,赋予听觉更多可能性。“设计”是游离在声音、光影与装置之间的那把尺,超越了双重意味,平衡了多重标准。物溶解在声、影之中,打开超越现实的想象空间。

借由空间逻辑转换概念——“拓扑”,将主题“觉”的三维拓扑面作为承接视听感知在空间中交融的承接容器,将经过设计转化的多重感官信息直观地“拓扑”在此容器之中。

 

Through spatial logic transformation concepts —— “Geometric Topology”. The three-dimensional topological surface of the theme Chinese character "觉"(“Sense”) is used as a container to undertake the transformation and blending of sound and visual images in space. This “container “ is the intuitive "topology" of multiple sensory information that has been transformed by designers.

该作品为了探索声音可视化,以造物呈现。基于阿仕顿马丁品牌特性,将DB11引擎启动的声音,通过数字成像技术及计算机算法演化,转换到三维空间。设计以仪表盘作为基座,从圆心出发的波纹起伏对应于引擎声波的频率高低。随着时间推移,声音渐渐消失,圆盘外围越来越平缓。纵向对应声波频率,横向对应时间维度。


In order to explore the sound visualization, the work is presented in creation. Based on the characteristics of Aston Martin, the sound of the DB11 engine is transformed into a three-dimensional space through digital imaging technology and computer algorithm evolution. The design uses the instrument panel as the base, and the ripples from the center of the circle correspond to the frequency of the engine sound waves. As time went by, the sound gradually disappeared and the periphery of the disc became more and more gradual. The longitudinal corresponds to the acoustic wave frequency and the horizontal corresponds to the time dimension.

由上海外滩海关钟声生成的数字化虚拟都市造型成为了同济设计团队为2021世界人工智能大会开幕式量身定制的主标识系统。在开幕式的“点亮数字之都”启动仪式上,这件装置作品成为亮点,其在美学上融合了城市特征与算法设计的风格,体现本届人工智能大会“科艺同频”的审美追求。

 

The digital virtual city generated by the sound of Customs House’s bell in the Bund Shanghai, it aesthetically integrates the characteristics of the physical Shanghai city and the style of algorithm design, showing the aesthetic pursuit of "the same frequency of science and art" in this AI conference. This project was designed by Tongji team for 2021 World AI Conference Opening Ceremony.

作品由互动性计算机程序和外部声音共同构成,尺寸和媒介可变,形态来自于张周捷于2014年进行的一项探索研究,即随机性设计,通过外界随意的声音,不断涌现出源源不断的新形态,这是计算机生成设计的一个展现,到底只有人才有创造力,还是万物皆在创造?


The work consists of an interactive computer program and external sounds. The size and medium are variable. The form comes from a study conducted by Zhang Zhoujie in 2014. Through the random voice of the outside world, a continuous stream of new products is constantly emerging. This is a demonstration of computer-generated design. In the end, only talents are creative, or is everything creating?

Mountain Stream (Art Installation)by YU Xinan


著名琵琶曲《高山流水》,用于描绘“峨峨兮若泰山”和“洋洋兮若江河”;使用算法将琴声转化为溪水的纹理,主要探索这一主题下的声音与图像的关联,并且使用数字技术,将前者凝固为后者。和有个不断重复低频的现代电子乐不同,传统国乐比如琵琶曲的频段分布广泛而跳跃,因此不同的曲子所对应的可视化的逻辑也应该是不同。针对传统国乐特殊的频段分布,对乐曲进行分段采样,并用采集的数据驱动漩涡状纹理,获得类似水墨或木器表面却不断变换着的纹理。


The famous PIPA music "Mountain Stream" drawing the dynamic spirit of water stream; using algorithms to transform the sound into the pattern of the water stream, exploring the association of sound and forms with help of the digital technology. Unlike modern electronic music, which has a constant repetition of low frequencies, traditional chinese music's frequency bands are widely distributed and jumped, so the visual logic corresponding to different songs should be different. In response to the special frequency distribution of traditional national music, the music is segmented and sampled, and the collected data from which is used to interfere with linar patterns and finally form a texture that is similar to water surface.
