Chinese structural biologist Yan Ning announced on Tuesday that she will resign from Princeton University in the US and join in the establishment of Shenzhen Medical Academy of Research and Translation (SMART) in the near future.
中国结构生物学家颜宁周二宣布,她将从美国普林斯顿大学辞职,并在不久的将来加入深圳医学科学院的建立工作。

"In the near future, I will return to China full-time to assist in establishing a new research and development institution in Shenzhen, which is named SMART, integrating several functions including scientific research, transformation, student cultivation and financial support," Yan said at the Shenzhen Global Innovation Talent Forum on Tuesday.
“近期,我将全职回到中国,协助在深圳建立一家新的研发机构,该机构简称SMART,是一所集科研、转化、学生培养、经费资助等若干功能于一体的新型研发机构,颜宁在周二的深圳全球创新人才论坛上表示。

Pandaily在一篇文章中写道:

During her teaching at Tsinghua University, in 2014, Nieng Yan led a team to analyze the three-dimensional crystal structure of the human glucose transporter GLUT1 for the first time. After the achievement was published in Nature, it immediately received widespread attention and praise from the international academic community. 
2014年,在清华大学任教期间,颜宁带领团队首次分析了人类葡萄糖转运蛋白GLUT1的三维晶体结构。该成果发表在《自然》杂志上后,立即受到国际学术界的广泛关注和赞誉。

Many scientists called this achievement “a milestone”. Brian Kobilka, winner of the 2012 Nobel Prize in Chemistry, commented: “To develop drugs for human diseases, it is crucial to obtain the structure of human transporter proteins. Analyzing the structural elucidation of GLUT1 is very challenging. This is a great achievement.”
许多科学家称这一成就为“里程碑”。2012年诺贝尔化学奖得主布莱恩·科比尔卡(Brian Kobilka)评论道:“要开发治疗人类疾病的药物,获得人类转运蛋白的结构至关重要。分析GLUT1的结构阐明非常具有挑战性。这是一项伟大的成就。”

She was the regional winner of the Young Scientist Award (North America) co-sponsored by Science/AAAS and GE Healthcare in 2005 for her thesis on the structural and mechanistic study of programmed cell death, according to her biography on the Princeton University website.
根据颜宁在普林斯顿大学网站上的简介,她是2005年由科学/美国科学院和通用电气医疗集团共同赞助的青年科学家奖(北美)的地区获奖者,她的论文是关于程序性细胞死亡的结构和机制研究。

Yan earned her PhD at Princeton in 2004, and returned in 2017 as the first Shirley M Tilghman Professor of Molecular Biology.

The establishment of the new medical academy in Shenzhen is one of the main projects in building a pilot demonstration area of socialism with Chinese characteristics in Shenzhen, according to the medical academy.
在深圳建立新的医学研究院是深圳建设中国特色社会主义试验示范区的主要项目之一,医学研究院表示。

Yan said she wanted to support more outstanding scholars and to tackle various health threats facing mankind, according to The Paper on Tuesday.
据澎湃新闻报道,颜宁表示希望支持更多优秀的学者,并解决人类面临的各种健康威胁。

Shenzhen offered the right opportunity and the city can build its place in the global biomedicine field, Yang said.
颜宁补充道,深圳提供了合适的机会,这个城市可以在全球生物医药领域建立自己的地位。

颜宁今天在个人微博回应了大家的关注,她说:“我很希望能将这份幸运复制延伸,让更多的年轻人也能持续地享受到同样的幸运,能够依靠内在的驱动力、而不是外界的各种诱惑、能够无后顾之忧地去发掘、施展自己的潜力,从而去做出更多真正原创性的发现。”
