Org. Setting and Reporting
This internship is located in the United Nations, Language Training Programme, English Team, of the Staff Development and Learning Section, Human Resources Department, United Nations Office at Geneva.
This internship is from 15 January to 6 April 2018, with a possibility of extension up to a maximum period of six months.
The internship is UNPAID and preferably full-time. It is under the overall supervision of the chief of the Language Training Programme and under the direct supervision of the teacher responsible for the interns in the English team and the teacher responsible for the Language Resource Centre.
Responsibilities
The incumbent will:
• assist in developing and updating materials, resources and e-learning courses using our platform on Moodle.
• work on our internal testing system and other ongoing projects. •ensure a presence in the Language Resource Centre, which will entail assisting clients and organizing Resource Centre materials.
The intern will:
• experience working in a multinational section of the United Nations
• learn about the staff development programme at the United Nations
• become familiar with e-learning platforms and working in a language resource centre
• be part of a dynamic team of teachers
• learn about and assist with other management and communication programmes in the Section as desired and required
• assist with international examinations or other tasks as required
• undertake a project related to his or her Degree or Masters' programme, or as required
• experience putting together audio or video clips for our Moodle platform to assist with our blended learning programmes

Education
Applicants are not required to have professional work experience for participation in the programme.
Work Experience
Applicants are not required to have professional work experience for participation in the internship programme. However, applicants are encouraged to list all relevant work experience in their UN Personal History Profile (PHP).
Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. English mother tongue or highly proficient is required. Knowledge of French is an asset. Proficiency in another UN language is also desirable.
