BYD boasts 98.31% YoY surge in Apr. 2023 sales

Shanghai (Gasgoo)- BYD Company Limited (“BYD”) sold 210,295 vehicles in Apr. 2023, which soared 98.31% over the previous year and also edged up 1.55% over the previous month, according to the company’s latest monthly sales results.

Of the vehicles sold last month, 209,467 units were passenger vehicles (PVs), representing a 98.59% year-on-year surge. To be specific, in the PV sector, Apr. sales of battery electric vehicles (BEVs) reached 104,364 units to reflect an 81.81% year-over-year leap, while the plug-in electric vehicle (PHEV) sales for the same period zoomed up 118.64% to 105,103 units.

Sales of the Dynasty and Ocean series totaled 198,941 units last month, shooting up 88.6% from the year-ago period.

DENZA, the premium auto brand majority-owned by BYD, sold 10,526 vehicles in Apr., indicating a 1.23% month-on-month growth.

The company exported 14,827 vehicles in Apr., versus the 13,312 units of export volume for the previous month.

For the first four months of 2023, BYD saw its year-to-date sales zoom up 91.83% year on year to 762,371 units. The company is ambitious to sell 3 million vehicles through 2023, indicating that it should sell roughly 280,000 vehicles averagely per month in the rest 8 months of this year.
