DeepWay delivers first new energy intelligent heavy-duty trucks

Beijing (Gasgoo)- DeepWay, the autonomous driving commercial vehicle joint venture between Baidu and Lionbridge, delivered its first batch of vehicles in Hefei on May 31.

Witnessed by CATL, DeepWay officially handed over the initial fleet of intelligent new energy heavy-duty trucks, known as the DeepWay “Xingchen” (translated to "star" in English) to XuRi DongSheng (Shanxi) International Supply Chain Management Co., Ltd. The vehicles will be used to serve CATL’s logistics transportation tasks.

The “Xingchen” was first unveiled by DeepWay in September, 2021 as a concept. 

At the event, DeepWay showcased a captivating video demonstrating the " Xingchen" vehicle, loaded with 49 tonnes of cargo, successfully completing a 1,119-kilometer journey from Beijing to Shanghai alongside a "diesel-to-electric" heavy-duty truck. This marks the industry's first application of pure electric heavy-duty trucks for long-haul transport.

The video revealed that the "Xingchen" offers distinct advantages over competing electric heavy-duty trucks, consuming 10% less energy and achieving a 22% improvement in charging efficiency.
