We heard you are a good friend with Peaches, is there anything interesting you would like to share regarding your cooperation with her?

Peaches是一位非常棒的、美好的艺术家。她总是给我鼓励和支持,比如带我参加巡演,邀请我制作她的混音歌曲,等等。对于她的创作方式我十分佩服,但绝不会泄漏秘密的哈哈。在巡演过程中发生的事只会停留在那个时刻。


Peaches is an amazing artist and beautiful person, she always has been giving me immense amounts of support, took me on tour, invited me to remix her etc and i absolutely value her artistic endeavours but i won’t spill the beans here. what happens in the tour bus stays in the tour bus.

其实在日常生活中都会听什么类型的音乐呢?有偏爱的音乐人/制作人吗?


What kinds of music do you like to listen in general? What are your favorite musicians / producers?

各种类型我都会听。但说实话,最近我没有像以前那样疯狂的听音乐了,开始拥抱我生命中的安静时刻。我最喜欢的作品,应该是美国独立摇滚乐队TV on the Radio在发布他们首张专辑之前的那张EP。即使过去了15年,现在每次仍然能让我从头听到尾。


I like to listen to all sorts of music. Mostly, as a matter of fact i don’t listen to music a lot these days and really started embracing quiet moments in my life. Otherwise besides being a sucker for sade, my favourite record of all times is the first TV on the Radio  ep that came out before their first album. even after 15 years it’s still delivers every time from start to finish.

这是首次来中国吗?此行除了演出有什么特别想做的?


Is this your first time coming to China? What would you like to do beside performances during this trip?

通常我并不擅长作旅行计划,但这次来到中国我的确打算花时间多点了解和感受这里的文化。我去了一些寺庙,散了很长时间的步,去想象在同样的位置千年以前存在过的人事物是一种很奇妙的感觉。听起来也许有一些嬉皮,但当你想到人们正在失去灵性层面的感知时,我认为回顾历程是一件很重要的事情。还有:是的,这是我第一次来到中国,也是第一次来到亚洲。


I usually really suck at being a tourist at places but here i’m definitely making an effort in taking the time to get a feel for the cities and trying to understand the culture more. i went to some temples, took long walks and it’s really beautiful to imagine how far this culture goes back while being at the specific locations and trying to understand the spirit of the places. Sounds mighty hippie now but in times where people are about to lose a common sense of spirituality i think it’s really important to try and get a glimpse of the bigger picture and understand how we’ve gotten to the point we are now. Historic sites will get you there eventually. And yes, it’s my first time in China or asia.

你在与 Fader 的访谈中提到:你乐于制造矛盾冲突、刚柔结合、明暗结合。你还提到你有时很平静,有时会爆发,如果一切都很棒,则一切都不棒。你把这些与中国的“阴阳”思想结合起来。我们注意到你的mix set中也用到了一首翻唱自中国歌手周杰伦的歌(收录在北京电子厂牌Babel Records发行的bootleg再混音制作专辑「回到范特西」中的“开不了口” ft.Heeze/Deanvia)。如何看待中国文化,其中有哪些给你启发的点?


In your interview with Fader, you said that “I gather my energy sometimes and I’m really calm, and then I burst it out. It’s like this yin-yang kind of thing”. Also, your new album explores contrast, pitching light against dark, hard against soft. And one of your recent sets included Chinese singer Jay Chou’s songs. Do you find Chinese culture and Chinese ancient wisdom interesting. Does it inspire you in any way?

我并不了解周杰伦这首歌背后的故事,当我无意中发现这首歌的时候马上就迷上了,这也是为什么它出现在了我的歌单里。音乐的美妙之处在于,它本身无限浩瀚的可能性,它的能量同时向四面八方渲染,并不局限于一个方向,而且,有永远都听不完的新音乐。我非常珍惜这一点,所以我总是试图将更多元化的内容融化进我的音乐作品中。我相信多样性的美,能够将不同的音乐流派糅合在一起对我来说真的十分有趣。棘手的部分,是创造一个能够贯穿在音乐的每一秒钟的大框架。这就像一个在糖果店的小朋友,那里所有的东西都是彩色的、甜蜜的,但在肚子开始疼之前,你能吃下去的糖果却是十分有限的。


I literally had no idea about the broader context of the Jay Chou song when i initially discovered it but i instantly really loved the track which therefore explains why it ended up in my playlist. The beauty of music is that it moves in all directions at the same time, is not linear and there is no end to discovering new music or being able to even get a glimpse of the vastness and variety,  music has to offer. I cherish that thought and naturally am trying to combine a broad spectrum of musical influences in my sets and mixes. I believe in beauty of diversity and being able to combine different musical genres is really interesting to me. The tricky part is to create a framework that works as a whole throughout the duration of a set. It feels a bit like being a kid in a candy shop where everything is colourful and sweet but you can only eat so much candy before your tummy starts hurting.

在你与Toggl的访谈中提到,很多人拿着他们的音乐找你评价的时候,你的评价都是“你还得再下功夫”。但是如今很多制作音乐的年轻人并不是全职做音乐,因为这样并不能养活自己,尤其是在中国。他们都是有一份全职的工作然后用业余时间做音乐,受各种条件限制,因此能下得功夫有限。你如何看待这一现象,对平衡赚钱糊口和做音乐,你有什么建议吗?


In your interview with Toggl, you said that “I often end up telling people reaching out to me and sharing their tracks: ‘You gotta work more’”. However, many teenagers nowadays aren’t producing music full-time, since it won’t support their living, especially in China. What is your opinion about this. How to balance between having a job and fulfill one’s goal in producing music?


    Ziúr

这个问题很有意思,我的部分回复可能会有点脱离上下文:这个问题让我联想到的个别年轻音乐人,总幻想能够马上变成碧昂斯,却忘记她是个非常努力的姑娘。天上是不会掉馅饼的。人们经常忘记音乐制作或任何一种艺术形式都是需要时间去学习的技艺,天赋仅仅是其中一部分。


即使在欧洲,大部分人也不能靠着全职做音乐来养活自己。但我觉得真正的问题在于,他们因为看到成功的那一小部分人而感到沮丧,然后他们开始试图寻找捷径。那些幸运的找到捷径并因此很快成名的人,通常随后都会摔的很重。我认为真正的进步,都是耐心的磨练技术、慢慢的成长而得到的。


当你必须为了生存而工作的时候,也许可以将音乐当作一个神圣的、让你感觉良好的世界,因为音乐可以轻而易举的做到这一点。并且不要用“工作”这样的字眼去理解音乐制作,而是将它当作日常生活的一部分。说到底,我认为音乐真的是非常特别的存在,它总是可以带给你一种自由的感觉,或者说假象。


This is an interesting question and i think the quote may seem a bit out of context here. The people i had in mind with this sometimes are really young and immediately wanna become Beyonce while forgetting that she’s a really hard working girl. Nothing just happens automatically.


Sometimes people tend to forget that music production or any other art form is a craft that takes time to learn, as well of course talent plays a role. 


Also in Europe most people can’t live off doing music but i think people often get frustrated seeing that this path works out for some other people and it makes them want to cut corners and have some sort of instant access to success. 


I believe if you rise fast you can fall deep, if you create your skill and grow slowly it’s more likely you’re here to stay. 


When it comes to the balance of things and you work a job to make your living, maybe try and use music as a space that feels sacred for you and makes you feel good because music can provide that easily. Maybe to start with, don’t call it work but use it to set a counterpart to your daily routine. At the end, i think music is really special since it can give you a feeling of liberty or at least something similarly close.

你如何看待如今Deconstructed Club Music (解构主义俱乐部音乐) 风格浪潮,你认为它的诞生背景和今后的走向会如何?


Nowadays the term “Deconstructed Club Music“ seems all over the place. How do you perceive the genre. What is your opinion about the genre’s origin and its future development?




    Ziúr

好吧,我真的觉得这个术语本身也很快会被解构掉,也就是说开始消逝了。每当一种新流派被冠以某个名词,通常它们就开始溃烂了...我不喜欢被标签限制住,因为这将从根本上破坏和剥夺了艺术性表达的自由。我有点希望,这种打标签的形式在未来将会消失。


I truly believe the term is about to get deconstructed also, meaning it’s falling apart. Once things get a name or institutionalised like naming it a genre, they usually start to suck. I don’t like being put in boxes, which leads to being fenced in and basically taking away artistic expression and freedom. I sorta hope the future of the term is gonna be ultimately found being engraved on a tombstone.

一种新鲜的俱乐部音乐时代,在打破了Techno的固有格式后,从矛盾的冲撞感中带着自由和实验的先锋精神诞生了。德国制作人Ziúr是在过去几年里,从柏林俱乐部音乐的众多光环中走出来的最振奋人心的制作人之一。



作为一名制作人,Ziúr于2015年发行的首张个人Mixtape /xuːx/ 引起了加拿大视觉电子摇滚女王Peaches的注意,她邀请Ziúr加入到同年年底的欧洲巡演,次年Ziúr又为Peaches的再混音专辑制作了一首单曲“How You Like My Cut”,两人的关系十分紧密。2016年Ziúr还与Kablam, Amnesia Scanner, Patten和DJ PayPal一起在欧洲各地演出。随着在音乐制作和演出的领域中迅速上升,她终于推出了个人首张EP「Taiga」,发行在厂牌Infinite Machine旗下。

在这张EP里Ziúr已经开始显露出个人特色,失真的鼓点果断地自由下落却毫不凌乱,衰落的和旋在鼓点组成的狭小缝隙中描绘出令人着魔的旋律,以十分高的姿态轻易掠夺聆听者的心。该EP获得了Mixmag和RA的极高评价:“实验俱乐部音乐最凶猛的新声音之一”。

同年冬天,Ziúr在厂牌Objects Limited旗下发行了第二张EP「Deeform」,不但延续了以往作品呈现出的她独有的灰烬式鼓点并整的更加凶残,在该EP中Ziúr也尝试将节拍放慢,而她证明了她的音乐就算速度变慢也仍然充满攻击性。



这张EP引起了知名先锋厂牌Planet Mu对Ziúr的注意。2017年,Planet Mu与Objects Limited两大厂牌联合发行了Ziúr的首张正式专辑「U Feel Anything?」。

实际上,Planet Mu与Objects Limited的主理人是一对夫妻,他们为了独占Ziúr甚至发生了争吵。

“U Feel Anything?”是她本人在通过音乐思考的过程中经常反问自己的一句话,在该专辑里她以音乐的方式表达了“破坏”与“温柔”之间的模糊界限。“我相信一个人只有在有柔软的一面作为参照物时,才能看出事物的残忍。”

“如果经历没有起伏,如果没有参照物去判断正与负,那你将如何辨别什么是令人兴奋的呢?”她说道,“当你将一颗花椰菜掰成一块块,然后再将这些一块块的花椰菜掰成更小的一块块...难道这些更小的小块块花椰菜就不是花椰菜了吗?在某种程度上,‘整体’和‘小部分’都是一样的。”


她对声音设计的敏感度帮助她在音乐作品里创造出难以置信的情绪张力。在「U Feel Anything?」中,这种忽略规则的思考方式随处可见,它们尖锐而冒失的跳出,但下一秒你就被它们的坚定所打动,成为一个令人留恋的、漂浮的意识空间。

Ziúr @ Boiler Room, Berlin 2016 


工业、噪音、朋克元素在Ziúr的音乐中十分显眼,她对音乐的冒险精神与其精准的技术,使得她的作品充满了你想象不到的可能性。她将人们所熟知的风格彻底分解,再通过自己独特的视觉重新拼凑成一个抽象的整体,以若隐若现的节奏和失真的低音赋予它们来自外星的魔力。



短短3年内,她已受邀登上了Unsound, CTM, Lunchmeat, 3hd等世界级先锋音乐节的舞台,曾与Lower Dens, Micachu + The Shapes同台演出。除此之外,她为FACT Mix, DAZED, Mixmag, Resident Advisor等各大平台制作过多首大胆的Mixtape,如今年4月18日为FACT Mix制作的Mixtape 649,其中包含了华语流行歌曲 “开不了口”和“轨迹” ,令人眼前一新。

作为主理人,她成立了多流派先锋派对品牌BOO-HOO,曾邀请过包括Lakuti, MauleGiRL, Born in Flamez, Dis Fig等众多柏林当地艺术家,联合呈现地下实验跳舞音乐的精髓,该派对品牌被《Time Out》和i-D评论为“柏林最牛逼的俱乐部之夜”。



9月15日,OIL与ROARINGWILD联合呈现:德国先锋音乐黑马制作人Ziúr以及希腊灵魂艺术家Abyss X,为你展示一个打通平行空间的实验俱乐部音乐之夜。


Ziúr is one of the most exciting producers to come out of the fringes of Berlin club music in the last few years. A new generation is breaking out of the techno mould and creating in a spirit of freedom and experimentation, taking seemingly incompatible influences and balancing them into a new and exciting sound. Ziúr is also the founder and resident DJ of ‘Boo-Hoo’, a night championing diverse lineups, reflecting it’s creative audience, bringing through the cream of the experimental dance underground. Planet Mu are proud to release Ziúr’s debut album ‘U Feel Anything?’ in collaboration with Objects Limited, a label run by Lara Rix-Martin which releases music by women and non-binary people.


For someone who has previously released just two EPs, the vision of Ziúr’s music is advanced and precise. It’s music which beckons you into an alternate world; wonderfully alien pop music that eschews conventions. She creates eldrich atmospheres that balance gentle melody and warm pop, in which strange elfin voices sing from other worlds and spiralling rhythms feel like entire structures moving. In the latter half of the record these harden into a pounding, martial symphony of steel, and introduce the kind of rough electronic riffs and guitar samples that betray her background in punk. 


‘U Feel Anything?’ was written as a way to think about music as a tool of enlightenment, a de-conditioning force and the kind of yin and yang that can be summed up in the title of one of the songs ‘Laughing and Crying are The Same Things’, a track which features Swedish pop singer Zhala, whose vocals straddle twisting beats, space and staccato strings. The album also features a collaboration with Aïsha Devi on the epic ‘Body of Light’, in which Aïsha’s vocals are pitched up and down, manipulated and distorted into wispy angelic tones, setting the tone for the first half of the album. There’s a process to Ziúr’s music that’s informed by this wish to get beyond the small things. She says “Putting a relation on what’s big and small and certainly meaningless behind our existence; how nothing is everything at the same time etc… it’s something that I try to explore again and again by putting myself into a thought process, rather than having everything already formulated.”


It’s a record of powerful, emotional twists and turns and mind-flipping contrasts that resonate with depth. As Ziúr says “I believe you can only tell that something is harsh when you have a soft side to compare it to. If everything is amazing then nothing is, right?”



希腊艺术家/舞蹈家Evangelia VS a.k.a Abyss X在克里特岛(Crete)长大,这座海上小岛的古代幽灵赋予了她丰满的音乐灵感。



她的歌声自由跨越爵士、民谣、科技舞曲、噪音,对“极限”的定义毫不恐惧,通过大胆前卫、毫无约束的表达方式,呈现出神秘的古希腊诗歌与前卫俱乐部美学产生的奇异冲突之美。



踏入电子音乐演出只有短短三年,她已经赢得了在世界级先锋厂牌如Halcyon Veil, Danse Noire, Infinite Machine的一席之地。



在舞台上,通过拥抱歌剧、舞蹈、戏剧之美,她打造出充满神秘感的极具观赏性演出现场,突破了电子音乐现场演出的局限性。



她将这种融合了电子音乐和表演美学的与众不同的演出体验带到了世界各地的音乐艺术节和地下派对上,演出足迹已经遍布欧洲,美国,亚洲,俄罗斯和墨西哥等。同时她也是非营利性的音乐品牌SHXME的主理人,旨在支持推动社会进步的思想运动。



Abyss X于2015年发行在墨西哥厂牌/虚拟现实艺术组织Extasis旗下的EP 「Echoes」涵盖了了Pop, Grime以及R&B,充满了经过处理的人声和怪异的合成器效果,如果说这只是“没有情感的流行音乐”,那么2017年由 Infinite Machine发行的「Nüshu」则表达了她对社会中所见的不公正事件中的愤怒情绪。

她回望自己的家乡克里特岛,并开始探索她的祖先的神秘历史。由于对米诺亚人到底是谁知之甚少,反而给了她从零开始创造声音的空间。在厂牌Halcyon Veil旗下发行的「Mouthed」结合了来自巴尔干半岛的盖达风笛、保加利亚合唱团,以及Abyss X 自己的人声,打造出一张像是迷失世界的幽灵的唱片。

今年2月,Danse Noire为Abyss X 发布了最新EP 「Pleasures Of The Bull」,她用音乐扩展和重建了听觉空间和时间的概念,把听众从固有的音乐常规中解脱出来。

其中的单曲“Lyrical Waxing”,她使用与以往相比更温暖的方式表达,关于与欲望和道德感不断斗争后的自我接纳,以绽放的态度面对精神层面的求生感。


灵感来自希腊克利特岛的远古神话人物Minotaur人身牛头怪。后工业的音乐质感与实验电子音乐的空间感相互衬托,不可预测的低音线,混搭以克里特岛竖琴为主的弦乐音色,还有Abyss X独特的唱腔,所有元素被重新粘合后最大化的释放出该专辑中的怪异美感。

Abyss X is the Cretan-born siren known for her signature music creations that exemplify a defiantly hyper-modern, searingly raw and uncensored approach to electronics. In her fearless sonic endeavours, the artist extraordinaire never holds back. The uncanny hymns of her motherland collide with tortured club aesthetics and her sound palette spans the worlds of jazz, folk, techno and noise; illustrating perfectly her maximalist nature. 


In less than three years since launching her project she has found a home within the internationally acclaimed, forward-thinking labels Halcyon Veil, Danse Noire and Infinite Machine. On stage, she embodies her background in dance and theatre to the maximum while her mystifying live appearances give birth to a spectacle that transcends the limits of confined live electronic music performance by embracing diverse aspects of opera, choreography and dramaturgy. 

Abyss X holds an impressive tour résumé, stacking countless DJ sets and live appearances at art & music festivals, and venues within Europe, USA, Asia, Russia and Mexico. She also runs the genre-bending music label SHXME; a not-for-profit initiative aiming to support campaigns with a focus on social change.

With a background in classical composition and 90s rave culture, Hong Kong's experimentalist Nerve explores the extreme sound experience by mixing electroacoustic, beat, bass, fx and rave samples into a new form of free improvisation performance. His high-speed finger triggering and knob twisting style generates a harsh yet danceable noise that can't be categorized and moves beyond our imaginations. Nerve is active in the local and international underground scene, performing and djing at 15 Grams, Buffneck Rizness, Kill the Silence, XXX, CTM Vorspiel (Berlin), LUFF (Lausanne), as well as numerous DIY outdoor parties. He has been warming up for DVA, Goth-Trad, Kode9, Pinch, Visionist and many others.



DJ/电脑音乐人/导演/插画师/快餐道友Shelf-Index是本地低音/实验界的活跃份子。除了恒常派对《Are Friends Electric?》及《SYNC SING SIN》外,亦替Bok Bok, Nguzunguzu、Filastine, Deville,Dexplicit、JCC等单位作暖场表演。


曾合作的录像伙伴则包括黄耀明/达明一派、Rubberband、蔡世豪、Polyklinik、进念‧二十面体、香港创乐团、Re-Records及Lona Records等。


After winning the bronze (open category, 2001) and distinguish award (youth category, 1997) of the Hong Kong Independent Film and Video Awards, domting graduated from California Institute of the Arts in 2001. Since then he’s been working in different positions within the media industry and occasionally makes videos for Re-Records/Lona Records related artists, plus music videos and live visual design (notably Anthony Wong黃耀明/Tat Ming Pair達明一派/Rubberband/ Tsoi Sai-Ho to name a few) and creates sonic manipulation material under the alias Shelf-Index. Besides participating in different experimental events, he is also a member of the DJ crew “Are Friends Electric?” and founded “SYNC SING SIN” alongside Alok, Jamline and AWI.



Mugi虽是理科男但喜爱设计,机械工程系毕业,正职是从事服装行业。在大学期间一度投身剧场舞台表演,曾任香港进念、非常林奕华剧团演员。初中就开始喝英伦摇滚电子音乐奶水长大的他,在2006年于广州接触到电音派对文化;2015年,他萌发了对研究电子节拍与视觉艺术关系的兴趣。闲暇之余,开始用笔记型电脑创作并与电脑影像、VJ、视觉艺术家做跨领域的结合。Mugi总能随着节奏,用层层交迭的素材幻化成梦境般的奇幻视觉,带领派对动物一同进入国度消逝的奇妙维度空间中。


A science guy but loves design, graduated from department of mechanical engineering and is engaged in the clothing industry. He used to perform on theater stages while in university and is a former actor at Hong Kong Zuni and Edward Lam Theatre Company. Mugi has been listening to British rock and electric music since junior high. His first contact with electronic music party culture was in Guangzhou in 2006. 


In 2015, he aroused interest in studying the relations between visual art and electronic beats. In his leisure time, he started to write with laptops and collaborate with computer image, VJ and visual artists. With the rhythm, Mugi can always converts layers of overlapping materials to fantasy visions, just like like unreal dreams, leading party animals to a wonderful space.
