How was Dimensions last month? Tell us a festival that you played and enjoyed the most.
Dimensions 非常棒! 在 Moat 舞台放歌特别爽特别好玩。今年早些时候有一个比较令人惊喜的音乐节，在德国南部的Bamberg, 叫Kontkat. 我也不知道我该期待些什么, 但人群很棒, 所以放歌体验不错。
Dimensions was great! Had a lot of fun playing the moat stage. One that was a bit of a surprise earlier in the year was a small festival in Bamberg , Germany called kontakt, didn't know what to expect but it was a fun one to play with a great crowd.
在和Hessle Auido与Timedance 共事过程中, 你学到最重要的是什么？
What is the most important thing that you learned from working with labels like Hessle Auido and Timedance?
耐心至关重要！花更多时间调整精化细节, 特别是在club里听过这些歌之后会呈现出与最终版之间的区别。 同样, 反馈是歌曲创作中必不可少的一环, 会让人耳目一, 视野更长远。
Patience is key! Taking the extra time to fine tune details, especially after hearing the tracks in clubs makes all the difference to the final version. Also feedback is essential on shaping the tracks, fresh ears and perspectives go a long way.

你和Batu是怎么开始合作的？
How did you meet Omar( Batu) and started working with him together?
我们在大学的同一门课上遇到。在他刚创立Timedance的时候, 我们一起住在Bristol, 所以和他一起发行作品事是特别顺其自然的过程。
We met at university where we studied the same course. We then ended up living together in Bristol around the time he started the label. It was a natural progression to release music with him.

Why did you choose a totally different day job besides making music as a producer?

It's a very easy job and one you don't have to take your work home with you. It's also flexible work hours. I also like coffee.

除了阳光帅气, 更重要的是他满腹的创作才华和别具一格的选曲。与Ploy密切合作的重要厂牌中, 大家最为熟悉的当属英国地下场景的杰出代表——Hessle Audio, Ben UFO三人组的同名厂牌 。该厂牌多年来专注推行uk garage, house, techno, bass。Ploy在此发行的《Sala One Five》, 一鸣惊人, 好评如潮。

如此年轻有为, 自然获得越来越多关注: 除了在欧洲各大顶级场所, 他也收到了Dimensions在内的各大音乐节演出邀约。截至目前, 他已为媒体平台录制了Fact Mix, Ilian Tape Podcast, Electronic Explorations podcast, 当然包括NTS和Rinse FM的频繁贡献。

Ploy, emerged onto the scene in 2016 with his debut release, ‘Sala One Five’ on the renowned Hessle Audio label, expertly followed up by a slew of EP’s finding residence on Batu’s Timedance imprint, the faction whom collectively carved out a unique sound in a shockingly short space of time, grounded in UK bassbin principles yet pushing that prism in wild, crooked new ways that have become something of a signature aesthetic..
Ploy’s unique sound has a place among modern electronic music’s most innovative, receiving remix treatment from the likes of Beatrice Dillon and Peder Mannerfelt.As well as regularly performing in Europe’s top venues, having already mixed an Electronic Explorations podcast, held down multiple NTS shows and a week-long residency on Rinse FM, and Fact Mix most recently.2018 sees a hefty release schedule, with the South Londoner continuing to strain the most challenging of dance floors and bassbins alike.

Casey Anderson ：
Casey Anderson plays live house music with a pile of synthesizers and samplers. Originally a small town in Florida, USA, Casey grew up on noisy guitars until he attended his first rave on a beach in Hong Kong in 2006, where he immediately swore to become a DJ and producer. Today his live music marries a deep love for dance classics with his past as a "secret goth." Listen closely to a track which, at first, sounds like classic Chicago house or acid, and you might recognize some dark psychedelia or noise rock like Sonic Youth, Joy Division, Can, or Bauhaus. Or perhaps it won't be recognizable after being twisted through effects - all of the music is made using only hardware instruments (no computers!) including an MPC loaded with the eclectic samples, deep analog bass, and usually some tube preamps to warm up any cold digital instruments, much to the delight of audiophiles.
In addition to his new live performances, Casey has spent the majority of his 10 years after landing in Hong Kong DJing at top underground clubs like Oma, large-scale festivals like Clockenflap, a residency at W Hotel, and top-tier, one-off parties around warehouse, islands and mountaintops. During office hours you can find him at his dream job where he creates soundtracks for fashion brands and art exhibits - past events include David Lynch and Karl Lagerfeld. Always eclectic, his CV includes not only opening for the occasional guest DJ from Berghain, but also unexpected quirks like playing accordion in a traveling folk band or recording an ambient album which a spa treatment was designed around. Comfy! Today he spends almost all of his free time building his own homemade eurorack synthesizer, which will be used for a new live concept of 100% improvised "machine jazz" analog techno.
Casey Anderson is someone who spends virtually all of his waking hours with music - listening to music, sharing music as a DJ, practicing or performing live music - and after a lifetime of that deep, singular focus, his big ideas are accumulating into something unique and exciting.

DJ/电脑音乐人/导演/插画师/快餐道友Shelf-Index是本地低音/实验界的活跃份子。除了恒常派对《Are Friends Electric?》及《SYNC SING SIN》外，亦替Bok Bok, Nguzunguzu、Filastine, Deville，Dexplicit、JCC等单位作暖场表演。
曾合作的录像伙伴则包括黄耀明/达明一派、Rubberband、蔡世豪、Polyklinik、进念‧二十面体、香港创乐团、Re-Records及Lona Records等。
Shelf-Index:
After winning the bronze (open category, 2001) and distinguish award (youth category, 1997) of the Hong Kong Independent Film and Video Awards, domting graduated from California Institute of the Arts in 2001. Since then he’s been working in different positions within the media industry and occasionally makes videos for Re-Records/Lona Records related artists, plus music videos and live visual design (notably Anthony Wong黃耀明/Tat Ming Pair達明一派/Rubberband/ Tsoi Sai-Ho to name a few) and creates sonic manipulation material under the alias Shelf-Index. Besides participating in different experimental events, he is also a member of the DJ crew “Are Friends Electric?” and founded “SYNC SING SIN” alongside Alok, Jamline and AWI.
