Gene Gallery 弥金画廊即将参加 2021 艺术厦门艺术与设计博览会，并于 A1-56,57 展位为各位带来艺术家刘懿萱、庞飞、商思敏以及余芷桐共计4位艺术家的精彩作品，借由不同的材质，媒介与意象，为诸位勾勒出一幅属于当代的东方画卷。自2017成立以来，Gene Gallery 弥金画廊致力于培养及推介具有亚洲风貌艺术家，以不同时代阶段跨度的艺术形态共同勾勒亚洲当代艺术的景观。Gene Gallery will participate in 2021 Art Xiamen Art & Design Fair. At booth A1-56,57. We will present Liu Yixuan, Pang Fei,Shang Simin and Yu Zhitong's artworks. With different material, media and image, Gene Gallery will bring you the outline of a scroll painting belongs to contemporary east. Since the establishment in 2017, Gene Gallery has been dedicated to cultivate and promote artists with Asian identities, to jointly outline the landscape of Asian contemporary art with art forms spanning different eras and stages.
Selected Artists and Works1988年生于吉林。2012年本科毕业于四川美术学院油画系，2015年研究生毕业于四川美术学院油画系。绘画看上去“保守”的特质造就了何种情绪？怀旧感看上去无可避免地出现在了刘懿萱的话中，带着说不清楚的偏执。近作视角从物象过渡到追求刻意感的人造景，围绕刻意的造景展开。他倾向于对所谓“制式”进行集体细仿，做出可能的偏离，获得一定程度异样感。与怀旧大概率的伤感相比，他情愿绘画带有轻微享乐倾向，从而实现“不深刻”的表达，这是一种朴素的常态。就像逛公园，散步并不是为了顿悟。Liu Yixuan was born in 1988 in Jilin. He graduated from the Oil Painting Department of Sichuan Institute of Fine Arts in 2012 with a bachelor degree and a master degree in 2015. What mood does the "conservative" quality of the painting create? A sense of nostalgia seems to inevitably appear in Liu's paintings. The perspective of the recent works has changed from the object image to the artificial scene of the pursuit of a deliberate sense, and the work continues its focus on a deliberate sense. Liu is inclined to the so-called "standard" to carry out a collective parody, making possible deviation, to obtain a certain degree of difference. Compared with nostalgic sadness, he prefers to paint with a slightly hedonic tendency to achieve a "superficial" expression, which is a simple, normal state of being. Just like the purpose to go for a walk in the park is just about the action itself, not about looking for epiphanies.
“自然生长的东西，才是属于自己的”

多年的水墨探索，使庞飞自然形成了一套打底制纸的方法，但他从来没有把这当作秘技，而认为只是绘画过程中的手段。在庞飞的艺术实践中，起决定性作用的还是思想境界、生活基础、有感而发。
庞飞个人风格的确立主要还是泼墨的探索。就山水创作来说，泼墨的主要作用是大地造气氛，但气氛出来了，没有具体物像，就会走向虚空，失之苍白。这里的关键是需要笔墨的修炼，笔墨高了，才能够和泼墨相得益彰，没有笔墨修养，画面便不成立。“艺术创作没有捷径，必须是和自己血脉相连，自然生长的东西，才是属于自己的。”
Experiencing years of exploration in painting, Pang Fei has found his own techniques in ink-painting, but he has never perceived it as a secret, instead, Pang thinks it is only a part of the painting process. What made the painting important is the way of thinking and the epiphanies in life.
Pang's personal style mainly comes from his exploration in splash-ink method. When it comes to Shan Shui (a style of traditional Chinese painting that involves or depicts scenery or natural landscapes), splash-ink methond mainly acts as a way to create an atmosphere. However, if there is no specific objects in the painting, everything will become null. The key is to be experienced in applying ink. In this way, one can bring out the best in splash-ink paintings. The paintings would look flat if one applies ink incorrectly. "Thus, there is no shortcut in the creation of art. Only when our life is permeated with the culture and art can we produce great works."
商思敏，1983出生于杭州，毕业于中国美术学院及英国伦敦艺术大学。在英国期间深受观念艺术及当代艺术影响。归国后，尝试不同领域的创作及探索，如绘画、动画等。通过多维度对社会及当下事件的研究，继续进行观念的视觉语言解读和探索。商思敏的作品语言极简、严谨，不乏风趣幽默的调侃色调。其创作的思路来自于早期对于观念摄影的兴趣与学习。热衷于在作品中编写一些隐喻。或者在一个大主题中去逐步探索，把其中的切片呈现为画面。也喜欢研究一些配色和不同的可爱的造型。有时候会用鲜艳可爱的画面去表现悲伤的主题，也算是一种黑色幽默。Shang Simin, born in Hangzhou in 1983, graduated from China Academy of Fine Arts and University of the Arts London. During his stay in Britain, Shang was deeply influenced by conceptual art and contemporary art. After returning to China, he tried different fields of creation and exploration, such as painting and animation. Through the multidimentional study of society and current events, he continues to interpret and explore the visual language of ideas. The art language of his works is minimalist, rigorous, and humorous. His inspiration came from his early interest and study in conceptual photography. He is keen on embedding metaphor into his work of art, or gradually exploring small ideas under a big topic and presenting them through his work. He also likes to work on different color palettes and cute models. Sometimes, Shang would use vibrant, saturated colors to express theme of sadness, which could be considered as a dark sense of humor.余芷桐1993年出生于中国广州，2020年毕业于伦敦大学学院斯莱德美术学院油画系，获学士学位，一等荣誉。2020-2022就读于英国皇家艺术学院研究生油画系。现生活工作于伦敦和上海。余芷桐的美学受80至90年代亚洲蓬勃发展的文化浪潮影响，作品中常常反映出交融的感性、对过去的怀旧、深刻的内省，尝试跳脱常规元素的束缚。她在创作过程中不断寻求对既定思想、情感、知觉模式的挑战，并试图在画面中探索多样化的创作方式及结构逻辑。她的作品往往在鬼马的神秘感和童趣的氛围间角力。Yu Zhitong, 1993 born in Guangzhou, China. Graduated from Slade School of Fine Art, UCL - BFA Fine Art (Painting), First Class Honors, 2020. Studying at Royal College of Art - MA Fine Art (Painting), 2020-2022. Currently works and lives in London and Shanghai. Yu‘s aesthetics are influenced by the cultural flourish in Asia during 1980s and 1990s. One that was characterized by a confluence of sentimentality, a nostalgia for the past, deep introspection, but also of liberation from conservative elements. As an artist, Yu seeks for a constant challenge to established modes of thought, emotion, and perception, exploring different methods and juxtapositions of extremes to broaden her capabilities. Yu enjoys the contrast between a sense of whimsical mystery and childlike influence.
