It is 8:30 a.m. at the Chengdu Research Base.

在成都研究中心，早上8点半。

Lin Wei and the other panda keepers are preparing the milk for the baby pandas' breakfast.

林伟和其他熊猫饲养员正在准备熊猫幼崽的早饭。

At 9:00 a.m., they find that most of the babies are already awake and hungry.

9点钟，他们发现大部分小熊猫已经睡醒了，并且肚子已经饿了。

When the babies see the keepers, they runover with excitement and some of them even walk into their friends and fallover!

幼崽们看见饲养员的时候，高兴地跑了过来，甚至有的小熊猫撞到了小伙伴们，然后跌倒了。

"They're so cute and lovely. I takecare of them like they're my own babies. I wash, feed and play with them everyday. They're very special to me."

Lin Wei loves her job, but it is adifficult one.

Pandas do not have many babies, maybe onlyone every two years. The babies often die from illnesses and do not live verylong.

Adult pandas spend more than 12 hours a dayeating about 10 kilos of bamboo.

Many years ago, there were a lot morebamboo forests and pandas inChina,but then humans started to cut down the forests.

Scientists say there are now fewer than20,00 pandas living in the remaining forests.
