At its milestone 50^th summit, the Group of Seven (G7) invited an unusually high number of leaders from the Global South. Despite Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni emphasizing that the G7 rejects the narrative of "West against the rest," and attempting to send positive messages to countries beyond the group's traditional alliances, the summit seemed to have created more division than convergence. Instead of mitigating concerns, the summit exacerbated regional confrontations whilst raising tensions with China.

The July issue of TI Observer focuses on the recently concluded 2024 G7 Summit, examining the global governance dilemmas and domestic political challenges faced by the G7 countries, and discussing their efforts to engage Global South countries.
