投中Joule之经典武功秘籍
1、Joule的定位：和Cell比肩，做成能源领域的Cell
上周四，Joule主编Philip Earis在访问中山大学和华南理工大学的会议上展示了James Prescott Joule曾说的这句话“My object has been, first to discover correct principles and then to suggest their practical development”，由此我们可以清晰地看到Joule的发展方向。其中“practical development”我认为最能体现Joule的特色。所以，投文章除了一些非人力因素外，我们一定要深度把握期刊对文章内容的要求，可以这样形象地说“萝卜白菜各有所爱”。

2、Joule需要什么 / What does Joule require?
Important conceptual advances （概念新不新？）
Research with implications across scales
Research that withstands scrutiny
Focus on the scientific issues and what will help improve the study
Find the constructive points and identify underlying issues (Peer review should be helpful and constructive)
If you disagree the specific suggestions or overall decision (Discuss the editor) （不服审稿结果？没关系，和主编掰叨掰叨）
When resubmitting, provide point-by-point responses to reviewer’s comments (Make sure reviewer feedback makes it into the actual manuscript, not just the point-by-point response) （Joule之审稿态度没的说，棒极了！先Call一下）
3、拿到你的稿件后，主编在想啥？/ Editor Considerations
Is the research scientifically correct, robust and will stand up the scrutiny?
Is the science communicated clearly, in a way that it can be easily understood?（所以说文章写作功底很重要。写作很考验一个人的逻辑思维和表达能力）
Does the manuscript present new insights that will genuinely add to the existing literature?
Is the research of broad interest? (Will people want to read this?) 被拒稿件后，经常看到的一个审稿评论是“No novelty”。毫无疑问，主编更知道你的文章会不会引起广泛的关注。
Will the paper enhance the journal if published? (Is it something the research community will care about and want to cite?) （众人是否会爱你的文章）
Will I easily be able to get referees to report on the manuscript? （别让主编找了一圈，没人愿意看咱的文章。这属于两种极端情况，一是全世界没人能看懂你写的那是啥；二是你懂的）
4、Cover letter怎么写？
Your opportunity to sell you research to weary editors: Explain why work is important?
Put recent literature in context- what does this work build on? （说说工作的基础是啥。不要告诉我是苹果砸到了脑袋上，擦出了火花后想出来的。我觉得即使秤砣咋了脑袋也不会冒出Good idea，Haha......）
Explain what has motivated submission to this journal? （是什么让你冲动的去投Joule?不要告诉我是因为爱，爱，爱）
If you feel the work will attract many citations say so (with some justification)? （说说你的工作凭啥能让人们都“待见”，众人之爱，乃是主编之深爱）
Don’t be afraid to state your own “value judgement” - if you feel this is the best research from your lab in eg. past 2 years, consider mentioning this. （自我审美一下，可以“不要脸”的多说几句）

7、审稿流程
其实说了这么多，投稿过程和相亲差不多：
1、自身条件得足够好，没钱你也得有张“蔡徐坤”的脸（蔡徐坤是谁？天啊，这你都不知道，暴露年龄了吧）；
2、你和姑娘“WB看绿豆”，对上第一眼很重要（能否让主编在人群中多看你一眼）；
3、姑娘要是觉得第一印象不错，把你介绍给她周边的人，闺蜜、蓝颜知己、老爸老妈、七大姑八大姨、舅舅舅妈.......要是这帮人都说一个字“中！！！”，那八成有戏。（要是有所有人都说中，只有一个人否定的话，此人极可能是“前！男！友！”，继续搬砖啦）。
